Wright could have been the biggest malcontent whiner ever to lace up a pair of skates and it wouldn't have mattered once he got here and put on our jersey. The spirit of Mickey and Memorial Cups past would make it impossible for him to give any less than 100 percent. True story.

I exoept Wright to be a very solid addition and give 100%
Not sure what you mentioned would play any part in that thou.
Gonna be a good ride for Spits fans.

Who was that guy who said we'd all hate Dionicio? On the night of Shane Wright's debut with the Spitfires I find myself more excited by the dynamic defenseman we seem to have added from Niagara.
I agree on Dionicio. I'm becoming a big fan quickly. Even if Shane Wright ends up being decoration, the distraction of him is giving Harrison & Maggio extra room. Once these guys get a bit more chemistry together it's going to be something special.

I keep becoming more and more invested in Spellacy as well. A player with that speed and that amount of hustle is going to be a dangerous player as he spends more time in this league.

Was that Jodoin's 3rd fight? I know the rule is 4th fight, 1 game suspension. However I was admiring the depth of this roster and realizing Jodoin is our 13th Forward and 7th D Man. Does the suspension length increase with his 5th fight? or 6th fight? or 7th fight? or is it one game for each?

Because honestly, we may have hacked the system because when the teams healthy, I only see Jodoin in the lineup every other night anyway haha.

An interesting game. I thought Dionicio made some brilliant plays, I had no idea he was this good. He's quite creative. What an acquisition that was. He now has 5 points in his last two games.

Harrison is an elite scorer, the between the legs goalie was dazzling. Shane Wright did not dominate the game by any means, but you can the see the skill. He seems to know what he wants to do with the puck the second it touches his stick, the hockey IQ is stellar. He also made a few great backchecks, good to see a star player trying just as hard in the defensive zone. Once he gets used to his linemates I expect him to pile on the points. He hit the crossbar in the 3rd and had a few good chances and finished with two points.

They got a bit too fancy went they were up 5-2, trying to make tic tac toe passing plays and it allowed Saginaw back in the game. Gonna be a fun final 30 games, then playoffs. Great atmosphere, the crowd was loud and in the game.

A few thoughts if I may...

- 6,000+... for a Thursday night. Call it the Deadline Effect. Call it the Wright Effect. I call it entertaining.
- The beauty of this team now, even more than it was pre-Christmas, is they can throw anyone at you and have a chance to score. You're either dealing with Wright, Christopoulos, Peer, or Spellacy. That's a luxury no matter how you slice it.
- The Wright/Maggio/Harrison line is going to be deadly. Saginaw had to shadow Wright and it still cost them. Harrison 3pts, Maggio/Wright two pts each. I mean...
- On the back end, again, you want DeA/Sobo, Dionicio, or Cristoforo?
- Dionicio continues to be that "wow" guy. Another three helpers and just seems to know where to be at all times.
- Costanzo was a rock, despite allowing 4G. Onuska is out for a bit and not sure on his return. Looks like Costanzo starts this weekend with Michelone (maybe?) backing him up.
- Holmes got an A tonight. Until Abraham comes back, can't hurt. Which, BTW, may be sooner rather than later.
- Jodoin and Spellacy both dropping the mitts in spirited tilts. I knew that Jodoin could throw them but, man, Spellacy can, too.
- The Spits played a little loose and fancy at times and they all knew it. Hence the giveaways and iffy D at the end. That'll be cleaned up. Let's call it a bit of over-excitement given the situation. This is why Savard gets paid the $$ - he'll figure it out.
- Someone asked about Jodoin - that's his third fight this season. Every fight from here-on-out is a two-game suspension.
- Speaking of which - I didn't see Colton Smith's Slewfoot major and it sounds like there was no "good" angle to get a better look. It might be up to the officials. I'd guess 1-2 games.

Constanzo going to start all 3 games? It's Saturday night in Saginaw followed by Sunday afternoon in London, could be asking too much for him to start all 3 games. Hopefully Onuska isn't out too long can't be having a jr. B goalie starting games when trying to win the conference.

It could change between now and then. That said, IF Michelone is given a start, it's not the worst thing. Onuska was in the same boat last year and that turned out decent.

Didn't catch any of his games last season but in the regular season he had an .884 save percentage in his 10 games with Flint. Onuska had an .882 in his 26 regular season games last season with the Spitfires, near identical. With the team Windsor has built, why not give him a few games to see what he's got while Onuska is out, maybe earning a backup spot for next season as an '04 or as an option this season if the injury/illness lingers. I'd rather they test it out now than come playoff time, he's been great in LaSalle.

Agreed Michelone has been great in La Salle
arriving there,2.35 average and .929 save per centage, to go along with a 10-2-1 record.
Yes he played 10 games last year with Flint as 17 year old rookie, the one thing he has interestingly in one of those 10 games is a shutout something that neither Onuska or Costanzo has recorded yet in their careers.
Last night was the 1st time since Dec 17 at Owen Owen Sound that Costanzo more then 3 goals,he allowed 6 in his last 3 starts, plus 1 goal in 2 games 45 minutes replacing Onuska twice in Onuska 's last 2 starts.
Costanzo was solid in the 1st especially during the 5 minute penalty to Colton Smith, like the team he could have had a better 3rd,didn't like the the 4th goal Saginaw scored, otherwise no concerns.
He starts Saturday, but I would definitely consider Michelone for the start at London Sunday afternoon at 2.00,were it a night I might not.

Agree with everything written,I knew fans would love Dionicio but his offensive ability and awareness have exceeded my expectations, though last year he did put up 30 plus points with Niagara as a 17 year old,he did look really good at the World Juniors for Switzerland and has continued his excellent play.
He had 7 points in 17 games with Niagara, and as mentioned already 5 points in 3 games here, all 5 in the last 2.
Even more impressive is Windsor's offense and that's not having Ryan Abraham for the last 16 games, team rolling along without him,13-3 is their record without him, including a 13-2 run currently.
Costanzo now has won 7 straight in the cage, still 5th overall with a 2.97 average and 4th overall in save percentage. 905.
Team getting 7 goals last night tied for 1st in that department with NB with 168,
though North Bay has played 2 more games,Ottawa has 162 in the same number of games, while Flint is 4th with 160 goals and they have played 1 more game then Windsor.
Spits now 1st in the division by 2 points over Saginaw with a game in hand,2nd in the conference 1 point back of London, though London uses their game in hand tonight vs Guelph.
Spits also are 4th in the league overall in the standings, behind only Ottawa, NB and London.

Windsor with another win.
the offense showed up and put up big numbers
joey played decent. didnt have a chance on most goals
defense was nowhere on the ice for long periods of time.
big crowd at the game. bandwagon must be almost full.
windsor should continue to put up big numbers as they continue to rely on the offense to push them thru games.

Impressive parts of that game, parts very forgettable! Lets hope that gets cleaned up. Found some players looking to pass to Wright instead of shooting. Still a bit of a distraction. No O again, is there more to it? Some guys had terrible games.
Side note how do you face the coach after kicking his kids ass?!?!

For clarity Oliver Savard is not Coach Savard's son,his son is Tyler Savard currently playing for Barrie, just traded there from the Soo.

Minimum for a slewfoot is 2 games. Did not see it clearly so we will leave it up to the league to decide what he gets if any.

Not mentioned here so far but the "under the radar" trade for me was Harrison. Kid is a player. The between the legs goal last night was sweet. He is going to thrive playing with Wright.

Wright's goal ( yes an empty netter) was a crazy effort. He had 2 Saginaw players hanging on to him and he literally shook them off and blew by them. I like his effort and strength. Not as flashy as most expect but a real solid player. He is going to make it easy for Maggio and Harrison to be open, kid draws a crowd.

2 of the goals against were 2 on 1's that were a direct result of Saginaw sticks being caught in a Windsor players skates ( always thought there was a rule against that?) so you really can't blame that on the D or Joey. Soblev continued to play once he lost his helmet, always thought there was a rule against that as well?

Go Spits Go!!!

I think some of the passing errors go on Maggio & Harrison, they were trying too hard to get Wright his first. Wright's going to score eventually.

If Harrison was selfish for one of those opportunities, he had his Hattie. Lennox was leaning the opposite way and he tried to dish it to Wright while he had an open cage.

Crowd was fun to be apart of I just think they got a little too settled in for the third. Were trying to be a bit too fancy rather than realizing this game was for 2nd place.

Costanzo looked solid despite the 4 goals against.
1) Sneaky goal through the 5 Hole I don't mind blaming him for.
2) Five hole on a cross crease 2 on 1
3) A 3 on 1
4) Unlucky hop off the back boards, that he at least read well just had a little too much spring on it.

I went and watched a good amount of Flint last year due to border restrictions. From what I saw of Michelon, I wasn’t impressed. I was a bit surprised when we acquired him. Not saying he can’t perform, but from what I saw last year, meh. With His numbers this year are definitely worth a second look though. I also have more faith in Bowler than I probably should.

Why does everyone think goalies can’t play 3 games in 4 days?

These kids are so properly conditioned from a young age not to mention their metabolisms and recovery rates at this age are incredible. Not saying work them to the bone but these kids aren’t that far out from playing high level tournaments at 12-15 where it isn’t uncommon to play 5-6 games in a 2 1/2 day weekend. What’s the difference? Physicality. Much more checking in this league, with harder hits. What player isn’t experiencing getting run into? The goalie.

Costanzos hot, if Onuska isn’t 100% ready, go with Joey.

If it’s Erie, Niagara or Guelph, whatever. It’s Saginaw, Saginaw and London this weekend. Don’t mess up winning the conference by 2 points in March by a bad goaltending choice in January.

I’ll test Michelone Thursday.

Re: Spellacy,
I think this kid is going to be special. He skates like the wind with long powerful strides, I’ve been saying once his hands catch up to his feet he will be deadly and in the last few games it’s happening very fast. IMHO he may surprise in his draft year, NHL size already and is now taking hockey seriously and getting good coaching now that he has committed to hockey. If anyone gets the chance look up some of his football highlights, very impressive what an athlete he is. Another excellent job by Bowler.
