Funny thing is l mentioned this awhile back and took flack for it. I'm ok if they stay but this is not the year to sell youngin's for maybe an extra round.
This confuses me a bit. The team is two points out of 1st and fans want them to trade the hometown player who leads the league in goals? Doesn't make any sense to me. That would be a sure path to angering fan base that is starting to see an increase in attendance. It's just not gonna happen.

They also have an 8 point cushion from the 4th seed team. I could see if the team was in the bottom half of the conference standings, but they're not. Adding a solid d-man will improve the team greatly like Perrot did last season.

So you weren't around when they traded Aaron Luchuk? This type of trade happens all the time. This team will do the same thing that the Soo did last year. 1st at Christmas and then barely hangs on to 4th by March. Unless they buy big they are not ending up in 1st. I don't want to see the future sacrificed for 4 years for a second round exit.

So add Maggio to the OA pile of Morrison, Hayes, Hardie, add Piercey too; who is buying all at the expected return?

Although I don't think Maggio will be traded he is top 4 scorer in the league. Somebody would pay and find room for him. Spits would just take their OA back.

I'm still ok with trades and/or soft sell I'm just all about not moving out our young core. I'm sure there will be a tweak or 2 but not at too high of cost I would assume/hope.

Idk if there are 2-3 teams to trade 2-3 OA wingers to at the expected price, but Maggio would be the first option as long as a Luchuk return is not expected. The ‘67s are likely looking at OA centre and Petes OA centre or defenseman.

The Luchuk trade was the year after they hosted the Memorial Cup, the draft cupboard was bare. What makes you thing it's a certainly that Sarnia or Owen Sound catches Windsor? Sarnia is below .500 in their last 10 games as is Owen Sound.

Sarina is in buy mode. They will be a threat. Owen Sound will stand pat like every year. Saginaw will sell and likely drop. Yes the Spits could be 2nd or 3rd but is going out in the second round a goal? London is the team to beat right now and Spits success ratio against them is very low in the playoffs. Do you really want to trade Christoforo and lose to London in the second round? This team is not deep enough without blowing the load to get past London.

That's pretty apoplectic. Hamilton won a title in 2018. Not a single player on that roster was on the 22 roster (Mutter and Van Loon were moved). That's fine to believe in the young crop but any moves made now shouldn't have any impact 4 years from now. In fact you still would need 15 new roster players for when those youngsters become 19. Scared money don't make no money.

Should also note with Holmes - he is an NHL draft pick by the Dallas Stars, but he is unsigned. So there is overage potential with him if the Spitfires wish to go that route.

just a depth guy but paid a stud price imo. maybe thats just the cost of doing business now?
Prices have been real heavy so far this year - perhaps him being a potential overager caused him to go for a higher price.
