Let's say, for discussion sake, that Smith is chosen.... now what? Are we going to be angry all season? Stop going to the games? Realistically, probably not. He's been in the organization for years and knows this team as well as anyone. Until we know his specific style, I'm not going to say yay or nay towards it. If it becomes more like Letowski's defensive ways, then I'm skeptical. If it's more like Savard (run-and-gun), then I'm optimistic. He had ties to the past but, I don't know if those remain. In either case, he's not my first choice but I'm going to give it a chance. That said...... let's see what happens when this all becomes official.

I’ve been a season seat member for 24 years with as many as 6 seats but now down to 2. If true, the appointment of JS disappoints me a great deal.

Smith's biggest struggle seemed to be the PP under Letowski. Under Savard it did improve. Honestly the biggest attribute for a coach if he is respected by the players. Hard to judge him at the helm since that will be new and he will bare all responsibility. We though Smith was going to be named when Savard was shockingly announced. Bowler keeps his cards tight. Just hoping we see a productive offense while maintaining a big presence in both zones.

The good news is NO announcement has been made yet. After all it is FRIDAY and don’t we always get screwed on Friday….think of True-dough, Lord Mr Ford and Hizzhonor the mayor. They typically stick it to us on Friday and run out of town for the weekend hoping we will forget about it in a couple of days.

Just the connection has been mentioned.

Smith is the nephew of Bob Jones. Jones and Boughner played together in the Soo, stood in each other's weddings. After Boughner returned for 11-12 Jones was moved back to assistant coach and Smith came in as video coach. Smith has been here ever since and Boughner by all accounts still has an interest in the Spits.

When it becomes official I'm sure the discussion will perk up.

Wow! Talking with some old friends in and retired from this racket. Theres not alot of good things being said regarding BB!! Im not repeating most of it as i was in a group that expects the chats to be kept quiet. But damn theres not alot of “like” out there! Seems hes got quite the ego, attitude, arrogance and…. Issues. Ive heard some of it from internal friends but these guys aren’t impressed. Not just at the A level either. Quite enlightening to say the least.

More focus on actual success should be what he should focus on..
 
Will be surprised tomorrow with someone outside the current staff being named? Odds that is not Smith? 10% 20% 0%?

If this choice is who most think it is BB better hope his guy can get it done! If not that 2 major mistakes in less than a year. He may have a guaranteed job with the Savages but if it goes sideways this may end any other hockey job he could want. This smells of more ownership meddling and BB willing to be the puppet!
