I agree outsider. Savages dictate much of bowler’s decisions. A certain asst is family and im sure theres pressure to choose him. That said hes not the right candidate and frankly a major reason family shouldnt be in those positions!! This could be a great decision or a huge mistake. Bowlers slso mentioned very publicly hes looking internally as well. Im concerned!
The one thing I do agree with Bowler is his idea of not rushing to coaching decision,I am sure there will be many applicants aside from Wellwood and the 2 current assistants Smith and Delmore,I trust he will do his due diligence certainly didnt strike out on Savard, and he didnt get him until Aug 22,here he has 2 months longer though frankly I doubt he takes that long to name the new head coach,as mentioned before I hope Wellwood gets the nod,he certainly checks most of the boxes,Windsor born, played on his home team that won back to back Mem Cups, drafted and signed by Philly Flyers, played in the NHL till a unfortunate injury ended his playing career, assistant coach with DJ Smith in Oshawa and won Mem Cup,head coach in Flint for a couple of seasons and helped resurrect that franchise, moved on to be head coach with Newfoundland Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL and 2 great seasons before losing in the 3rd round in each year, now coming back home with a young family ready to coach his former team that he played with.
Would be a great choice.

Do you guys think Wright will be back?

He struggled in the ahl playoffs and was a bottom 6 pairing the whole playoffs. The kraken are a good team and I don’t see him cracking that unless it’s a bottom 6 role there maybe and they push their luck.

The poor kid has had so many injuries + a Covid season. I think they’ll put him back in junior where he can hopefully stay healthy as the ahl route is not possible for another year for him.

So his options are NHL, OHL and if he wants to throw a real curveball- playing in Europe, I believe. If he came back you’d have to assume him being a year older and better would get him even more than what you guys have to us in Kingston.

There was a large discussion about that on here a few pages back.

I think it's all going to fall on whether the OHL/CHL/Kraken decide to bend the 25-game rule. IF they do, he's in the AHL where he can develop. IF they don't, he'll get a shot with the Kraken but then head back to the Spitfires. What's best for him? I have no idea. There are pros/cons to every option. I'd personally love to see what he could do over a full 60+ games (assuming WJC) in the OHL, even with the inevitable trade from the Spitfires. That's just me, though.

I agree. Ahl would be the optimal route but I’m sure there’s been situations like this before where players weren’t granted exceptions but I don’t have knowledge of that. Wherever he does go the main thing for him is to stay healthy. Another injury and I would hate to see how his career ends up

Also. Wright played 8 nhl games last year I believe. Does that mean he can only play 1 this year? Or does it reset every year?

When did I say 2 games WAS the schedule? I said I posted the home opener and will post the rest of the schedule when it comes out.
since the entire schedule is not out, posting the game before wasnt too difficult and is easier to post then the "entire schedule"..

That last one is a good question and one I'm not sure about. The NHL site says it's nine games and then your entry-level deals kicks in... so that sounds like nine games, total?!

I don't know of any players that were given exceptions for the 25-game rule, either.

Yep, I just figured it's easier to announce the home opener and then the entire schedule lol
Interesting after Spits open the season on the road at Sarnia Sept 29,they play the next 5 at home in a 2 week period.
Also interesting despite London being in the same conference and the fact they play each other 6 times,Windsor does not play London,
on London for the 1st time till Feb 9.
London plays here twice before Dec 15 and the last time in Windsor's 2nd last home of the schedule.

Will make games more interesting after the deadline..

NHL Draft day.

Expect Rodwin Dionicio to be the only one to be selected, every one else would be mild surprises

Only 4 ohl players in round one. But theres no problem!!!!???
Further exposure of windsors 1 dimensional hockey. Only 1 player drafted and he was brought over. A team that pushes offense only produces some guys with artificial big numbers. The pros see it for what it is and draft accordingly. Im sorry but BB better realize you need a team with grit and the ability to play some D along with scoring. If not mediocrity will be all we have to cheer for!
Congrats to Dionicio!

Dionicio was picked just 20 spots after Meidema. Honestly for 23/24 I’d much rather have Dionicio.

Still Seems odd seeing Coulson Pitre going in the round before Meidema. One of those situations where one player went out and played way above expectations while the other played below.

I really don’t know what to expect from the Wright situation. If it’s OHL/NHL, the spitfires could end up with the cupboards getting re-stocked quick. Especially if Saginaw has interest.

For Wrights development, would guarantee him some big games, which he hasn’t really seen. Only Three playoff series since his entry to the league in 19-20. With the farthest being Kingston in 22’ losing in the 2nd round 4-1
