Carter Froggett has signed with the London Nationals Jr B. He was an Affiliate Player last season but officially signed with them earlier today.

WINDSOR
What are the implications of being officially signed Junior B? Is he still eligible to be called up for max 10 games if not an affiliate player?

Yes he is re the 10 game rule, though to be honest I see Frogett being the 2nd goaltender this year with Costanzo being the #1 guy.
His signing with London Jr B,his hometown team gives him a spot should he not make Windsor this season.

My post was IF he doesn’t make the Kraken, the OHL exceeds the AHL on coverage. Find a regular channel covering the AHL? Good luck unless you have Leafs TV covering the Marlies. The rules are simple, 16 to play CHL unless they have a special meeting and agree to let un a 15 yr old player under exceptional status The same meeting will need to take place to release him technically early. Those aren't rules, those are decisions that bend the rules already in place. My point has nothing against Wright if they do bok to release him to the AHL that sends a precident moving forward. No one was crying when Cuylee had 19 games instead of 20 and was returned. Cuylee was more ready for AHL than Foudy but that's not how it played out.
Actually Cuylle played 18 games in the AHL during the covid season not 19 games though I agree with your post.
Myself I hope Wright does wind up in Windsor this coming season would make things very interesting, if he doesn't will be 3rd straight season that a 19 year old player doesn't return, Foudy the 1st,Johnston the 2nd .

The Cuylle/Foudy situations were one-time deals because of COVID, too. It's not like anyone wanted to bend/break the rules but COVID kind of broke the rules for humanity. Windsor was lucky that it was set at 20 games and not 10 or 15... they'd have no Cuylle then and maybe no Western Conf title.

Re Froggett - I see him coming to camp and making a serious case for the backup spot. Windsor's in a good spot with Costanzo and a backup and having an 04/06 as your duo is pretty ideal right now.

I'm happy for the guy. He came into this situation with a whole lot of unknowns and turned the organization into a destination that players want to be a part of. Now he gets the chance to show the NHL what he has.

I had the chance to talk to him on several occasions and he always made people laugh, so I'll miss that. However, I'm happy we all got to experience his style and leadership and hopefully he finds long-term NHL success.

That said... it'll be interesting to see who the next coach is.

Ok hes gone. One answer answered. Now lets see which direction BB goes. This makes many things interesting! It better not be one of the assistants!

Whoever they find as their next coach it has to be a coach that wants to make Windsor home. Not a coach that just wants to make Windsor a quick stop. This will be the Spits 4th coach in 7 seasons coming up. Tough to strive to be good year after year when you have to do a head coaching search every couple years. Every coach had their positive traits and negative traits but most of all this next hire has to be a guy that wants to stay a few years due to lack of picks and so many OAs this is going to take a few years.

Wright was granted exceptional status to get in at 15 and will need exceptional exit status to leave. Wow rules bend at the beginning and now possibly the end. The kid may well want to play another year at this level. Players with that talent don't need to learn their game in the AHL. it is confidence that needs tuning at that level. AHL really doesn't offer 6000 fans watching a game, local media attention and big stage like the WJC. that is something the CHL does offer.
I can't imagine he would chose to go back to the OHL if the AHL was an option. If he's in the A, he gets 80K salary on a team that was one win away from a championship and the chance to get called up to the Kraken if he performs well. If he's in the OHL on who knows which team he's stuck until his team is eliminated and, confidence-wise, he gets knocked by the 'failure' of getting sent back two years in a row (how many 4OAs are in junior in their D+2?)

He was second in the OHL in points/game when he was in Windsor in the regular season. He'll be 5 days away from being an overager. How many times do we see overagers who are never going pro rack up points just by virtue of being 20 years old in a league of teenagers? If his problem is that he was physically mature earlier and other players are catching up, sending him back to be a man among boys (check out his playoff beard) is going to be counterproductive.

I think W7 is right either way Windsor is taking the L on the Wright trade.
I disagree with yours ( and many others ) assertion that he has nothing left to prove in the OHL. He really has never shown he can be " THE GUY " that can take over a game.
Some would argue he had a good juniors this year but Bedard ( maybe an unfair comparison ) at a younger age way out performed Wright.
Another year an opportunity to be a positive leader and maybe a playoff run wouldn't hurt Wright

Maybe he just isn't THE GUY. He's not Bergeron, he's Taylor Hall (in terms of the current Bruins roster).

I think the OHL can let him go to the AHL without really setting a precedent. He 1) was an exceptional status player 2) who missed out from accruing a full season in his 4th CHL eligible year due to injury 3) and doesn't crack the NHL in his D+2 (assuming that to be the case). That combination is unlikely to ever happen again.

First guy I would look at would be Dale Mitchell currently with Leamington Flyers, former Spitfire to boot.
Bowler did well with his last choice to be head coach by having Savard,so my trust is with him regarding his decision.
I would be shocked if either assistant coaches are named head coach.

SEE YA. I just didn’t like the fact he implied he was going to be here awhile cause his focus was on developing players for the NHL. Now we don’t have to worry about the circus after every year on if he stays or not.
Wasn't going to be a long term from the start..

There are VERY few head coaches in the CHL that would turn down an NHL spot if a team comes calling. They got to worry about themselves and their families too, you know?

He made like 54 mil playing in the NHL for his career. Not sure what the actual amount he received was but i’m sure his family isn’t hurting. He just made it sound like developing kids was more important to him then taking NHL jobs right away. No doubt his end goal was to get there. Either way i’m glad he is gone and hopefully they can find someone who will focus a little more on defensive play.

Might need to slow your roll on Dale Mitchell. He's only been coaching Leamington for 2 seasons. They are jumping from Jr B to Jr A which is a big leap and bigger business. Last time they hired a coach they looked at a former NHL assistant coach. This is nothing against Mitchell but the time shouldn't be now for him. See how he does in Jr A first and when they will have to hire another coach in 3-4 years which will no doubt be the case then talk to Mitchell.

Part of the problem is ownership having a say or frankly making the decision on at least 1 asst coach. BB makes all the personnel decisions. Makes it tougher to hire. Need a guy who understands 2 way hockey and the young player mentality. Guy with a touch of toughness knowledge.

I want Wellwood. His term is up in NF. Hope he’s on the list.
Wellwood would be an excellent choice, however sources tell me he could be headed to the Ottawa Senators to be an assistant coach to DJ Smith.
Interestingly Savard rented Wellwoods place while he was here a stone's throw from the WFCU.
