I know they want to do a "be competitive every season" approach but, if this becomes a rebuild, I don't think people will be horribly upset.
I'll be upset if it's NOT a rebuild year! Time to pay the piper. We have some valuable OA's and 19 year olds that will turn this team around in 2 years if it is played out correctly. Cue the lesson book from Hamilton!

As long as it's a full rebuild not a half ass one.
Been there seen that..

The dreaded Knights have been either 1st or 2nd in the conference regular season the past 4 years. They achieve it with late round draft selections and no major gutting. Why can't we do similar?? I believe Bowler has that type of consistent competitive vision. As said before only 3 maybe 4 picks drafted each year are signed. Draft well and your core is there each year as they improve.

They won't gut the entire team but you'll see changes for sure. Bowler needs to find that balance between competitive and getting a ton of picks back, at least for 2024.

Not arguing directly at anyone but having a ton of picks and using them all like this year didn't improve the results. Using picks to p/u someone else's 17 yr old stud makes more sense long term instead of expensive older rentals. We went to the finals last year without overspending. Spent it all this year for a 1st round exit. Building a consistent competitive team also draws in flyers at a more frequent rate. Great players with low draft selection used.

Agree somewhat with this. You can never have enough picks. Use some to supplement a solid core to fill in the holes and weakest links so to speak and use the rest of the picks to continually draft players to be your solid core. This is the model used by the better teams. You have to sell occasionally to get the picks and to retool the group. Hamilton and Missy both did that this year and faired better in the playoffs than the Spits. London also sells to restock or help in a run. They traded their first rounder this year so all teams must and do trade to get better. Spits must reset this year. There is no getting around that.

Because the Spits aren't getting enough players drafted by NHL teams. Under Bowler they still haven't drafted a D that ended up getting drafted by an NHL team. Sobolev is the closest but he never played for Windsor before he got drafted by Montreal. Got to have pros to do what Lomdon does.

Ex Spit Pasquale Zito is unsigned by the Red Wings who have until 5PM today to get his name on the dotted line or he becomes a free agent.

As posted on Twitter…..
The #OHL trade window should be open again beginning today for the month of June where teams can swap players and/or picks!

There are usually some deals made during this month long window but there hasn't been a regular one for a few years due to COVID.
Apparently Niagara is making a trade today sending out 2 guys they just got midway through last season.

Is this the same for Soblev?
Not on the list I saw posted on Twitter.

I believe players who are 20 or under can re-enter the draft. Those who are 21+ are free agents. This makes Sobolev and Zito re-entry eligible. If I'm wrong, would love to see updated info.

5 OA's. Minimum 2 have to be gone by trade deadline. 1 has to be gone by end of preseason. It really boils down to if any want to go to school or if any get signed to a minor league deal. Who knows on that front? Also is Bowler willing to move one of the top 3 for some juicy picks? Christopolous would get you at least 1 second and maybe more. Maillett as well but you do need to keep 1 of those 2 to stay competitive and I believe Maillett is the one they keep. If Bowler waits ( and I think he will) to the trade deadline and Spits are middling team then Maillett and Peer will definitely be on the table.

So to summarize, Jodoin and Holmes will likely get traded or released by end of camp. Christopolous is my pick for a surprise early trade and Peer / Maillet will stay until trade deadline is figured out. You might see an OA brought in in a swap at the deadline. Anyway predictions are for Gypsy's so carry on.

That is a positive for the team. Physicality he does bring!!! Bad for him but he can showcase his talents next year the covid year was really hard on D men who usually take longer to develop. Nature of the position for a young guy.
I would welcome him back but I'm not so sure they bring him back as an OA import. You would have to move 1 of Peer, Maillet or Christopolous to make room. Only way is if one of them gets moved early. They would also have to pass at the import draft to keep him. We will know that fairly soon.

Because he is an overage Windsor can still draft another import but would have to drop one if he was to return.

Never heard that before? Did not think being an OA import meant you can draft another import?
The Petes had Liam Kirk returning as an overage for the 2020-2021 season (which was cancelled) and they were still able to draft two players in the 2020 Import Draft. They drafted Brian Zanetti in the 1st round and Kaspars Ziemins in the 2nd round.

Coming off the COVID cancelled season I think; OA imports, NHL signed imports, and NHL 1st round selected imports did not count as protected.

The Knights continually stock early picks. The only draft that the Knights have not had 5-6 players selected by round 4 in the last 10 years was 2022, but traded ~8 picks for Dickinson pre-season.
