Anyone have any insight on draft pick Easton Pace? 110 points as a D-man is pretty remarkable. He's American, if he's committed to the OHL I expect him to be on the team this season.

Pace actually plays Center not defense,however his numbers are pretty impressive and it wouldn't surprise if he commits to Windsor in the near future.

I haven't seen much to indicate whether he's leaning US or Ontario. Even the WStar article just said he's a quick, offensive guy. If the player is leaning NCAA, that's usually mentioned.

Spitfires take a swing in round 7 with Easton Pace from the Detroit Little Ceasers.
Very good IQ, offensive kid, scored a lot of points for the ceasers.

Not a guaranteed commit.

So by appearances some areas needing help got it. Pick 1 gets us a big body that likes to park in front of the net. 2 and 3 are physical D men. Lets hope some from further down are good enough too. That said the transition to Jr A hockey is big, lets hope these players attributes follow them to this level.

Could see Spits use all 3 picks tonight though by the rules for this draft they must select a goalie in the 1st or 2nd round to pick 3 players.
Pick 2D,1G would be my 1st choice,1 of each D,G,F my second,regardless best player rated by scouts regardless of position
With only 11 players from the recent league draft picked a few days ago,some teams had 17 good time to load up here if possible,would be nice to unearth someone.

1st round - D Evan Hjelholt. 6'3 209 out of Toronto Titans U18. 3 assists and 22 PIM in 36 games.

Hard to speculate.....but still they woulda needed 12 more PO wins then they got to see. That's not easy.

I'm still surprised at the 1st rd result. As we're most. The dots just went able to be connected for whatever reason. It happens. But a good 2 year run and if they leadership makes the right moves they can keep this momentum going.

once was in the media room in london and a 1st round nhl pick came in who spend 1/8th of his career in london. all pyette did was talk about how much of an honour it must have been to play with the knights, nothing about the player and his accomplishments.

The league and board of govs need to do a much better job of vetting these prospective owners. The league needs to give the govs more info to enable making better and more sound decisions. Of course the focus will just be on Niagara and not Branch.

For those interested, today was the Spitfires' 2023 Draft Orientation day, bringing the picks and their families to the WFCU Centre for introductions, photos, tours, and a bit of a scrimmage. All 14 picks showed up. While it's early and evaluations are kind of pointless after 30 min of scrimmage, I will say this - Nesbitt put on a nice show, Lavigne is a monster, and Pace doesn't stop skating.

Today was a good stepping stone for the club. They threw a significant pitch out to all of the picks. Whether it results in signings, I don't know, but nobody can question their effort.
