WINDSOR
Last night wasn't like they were in it and lost on a bad bounce. They were schooled in positional play at both ends. PP resulted in less scoring chances than our 5 on 5 play. The Rangers were committed to playing a reactionary style that caught us standing still too often. You can't skate faster than a pass and their short clean passes was tic tac toe out of their zone. Did we even have a rebound scoring chance. None I recall or at least memorable. That sure makes a goalies life easier. Add up the scoring chances and JC outplayed Constatini. We just had fewer and didn't capitalize. Maggio and Holmes need to play with the intensity Wright brought to the game. Am I calling out some. Yes. Watching the game back Maggio interview he said what needed to be done but didn't back it up. -4 when you have an assist really means you were on the ice for all 5 although sure the last 1 was an empty netter. I want to see the same effort chasing the OHL points lead now. No coasting by anyone. Even that goal JC struggled to grasp doesn't happen if our guy's took out the vultures circling him. Fell behind 1st minute and we were befuddled the rest of the game. I'd feel better if we had 50 shots, played well and ran into a hot goalie. He was not hot but we were too soft and cold to take advantage of it. Regroup tomorrow and tie this up leaving the Rangers feeling lucky to split DIG DEEP GO SPITS!

I’m not sure if it’s better or worse they weren’t in it.

If we played our best and lost, I think I’d be more concerned. I think everyone watching knew that Windsor was far from their potential in that game.

Watched the Saginaw/Flint game tonight and that was getting chippy. Saginaw claimed their barn but I think Flints coming back on home turf.

Sarnia and London, well, that’s about what you expect from first round matchups.

Agreed on Woodall. Played solid man to man coverage and isn’t afraid to dig in the corners. He should be fun to watch over the next few years and will be a great addition to the Dionicio, DeAngelis, Christoforo group we have next year (doesn’t include any potential D OA’s)

If you're going to lose like that, make it a blaze of glory. They know they were bad and so does everyone else. You look in the mirror, realize you screwed up, and onto the next. Savard always says "first to four" (win or lose)... tomorrow they've got a good shot at their first. Make it happen.

Big dogs flexed there muscles last night and won there games firmly. Time for these boys to pull there socks up and get to work. There's a reason Kitchener rested there players in the final game. Windsor cruised into first, lots of inconsistency coming down the stretch. Need to turn it on now. Inconsistency in the playoffs will all but sink us. Even with injuries and suspensions, we should beat these guys. Now go and show

Go spitfires

I’m ok with “first to 4” in what should be a back and fourth series. This shouldn’t be that kind of series. If they continue playing very poor team defence, they won’t beat anyone. They need to tighten it up.

I agree Windsor as a team were not the better team in game 1 vs Kitchener, and especially when most of your best players weren't your best players good chance you will lose.
Everyone needs to play better including Joey, not blaming him,a team loss against an 8th seed team in standings only not talent closer to a top 4 imo.
Toss in a Windsor team with 4 players out,2 of their best 4 D included,a 5th one Morneau gone at the end of 1st,a 6th one Greentree playing his 1st game in 3 weeks, playing 2-16 year old defensemen 4 total 16 year olds playing,5 players wearing a cage/bubble against a team with no 16 year olds dressed,no injuries,no cage wearers, it looked like Windsor was a typical 8th place team.
Basically with any depth advantage gone, unless your best beats theirs good chance you lose and we saw what happened.
Having said that, many times this past season Windsor has overcome some of those obstacles, and like I have said before 1 game at a time.
Get a win tonight,3 days before next game, probably 2 players returning for game 3,yes tonight wont be easy, make Kitchener work for,and our best players have to be their best tonight.
Player changes I would make now with Morneau out would be Martin in for Morneau and Birkett in Davis,4th line made of La Salle players including McManus, Martin and Birkett, call them the cage line and if I am them when they get the chance which might not be often is to play like caged animals and hit everything in sight,Martin and Birkett are both 6'6" use it and McManus despite being only 5'10 but he hits like a Mac truck, bottom line whole team teams to be more physical, I expect a much better effort/ result tonight, overcome adversity and win, there will be probably 1500 more people in the building make all enjoy this one.

So you haven't been reading the Kitchener thread in last while? All threads have doom and gloom posts.

All threads - team loses " we played bad, better team lost". Team wins " what a dominant victory". It is hard to not be a fan of your team.

To Say us collectively as Spitfire fans is just an inaccurate comment. If you read back there is alot of us, I'd say the majority of us spitfires fans know where our team stands. When were ON we can beat any team in this league period that's just with the pure offensive skill and Talent that's been shown this season, but if that's not firing on all cylinders this team struggles to stay consistent and win games. We cruised into first with London and Sarnia on our heels. Non the less the spitfires did finish first and the Rangers finished 8th, there is a reason for that. Yes the Better team did win Thursday, as all of us spitfires fan know that, you call it excuses but its us pointing out our teams flaws and continued problems we have seen throughout our clubs season and in game #1 and what needs to be improved for us to win this ssries. One game isnt the Series haha. This will be a 6 or 7 game series. All of us spitfire fans knew Kitchener was a strong 8th seed. Plenty of nhl prospects and good young players. Also more reliable/experienced goletending. But the Spitfires have the pedigree and overall more seasoned and experienced team, the Spitfires are not going to roll over and die, the best is yet to come.

Good post, I just don’t like hearing we lost because this guy was out, that guy was out. After the season we had this year it’s laughable by us Ranger fans and we don’t have much sympathy. Realistically Windsor should win this series but that’s what London said last year, so there’s always hope. Good luck

Weak defensively when all are healthy. Weaker with 2 top 4 out and one playing injured. Just the facts.

The whole idea that "injuries shouldn't play a factor" seems odd to me. You take out two of your top four dmen out for a game, that's going to affect how the game goes. I don't care which team you root for. If you take Brzustewicz and Schmidt from Kitchener, Mailloux/George from London, DelMastro/Dllingham from Sarnia, etc etc etc., that will have an effect. It's up to the teams to figure out how to adjust, but brushing it off like "meh, it's no biggie" makes me scratch my head.

Pretty sure many of the London posters on here did not feel that way about our team last year. Knights were one dimensional and Kitchener sut that line down. I was surprised it went 7. I wasn't surprised the Rangers won.

Fyi if you're coming to the game tonight and parking is not available go to the city bus lot to ride over. Lots and lots of tickets given out on Thursday night for those parking in no parking zones or parking on the grassy areas. will be the same tonight.

not going to lie, it is frustrating watching Sarnia and London get to beat up on Guelph and Owen Sound who only have 3 drafted players. The Spitifre's reward for being the #1 seed is a Kitchener team with 6 NHL picks and two more about to be drafted in this summer's draft. Just bad luck on the seeding. If Kitcher didn't blow a 5-2 lead with 3 mins left to Flint last weekend, we'd be playing OS instead.
Also incredible bad luck with all the injuries and now two of the oddest suspensions.

With all that said, I am confident in tonight's game. Thursday was the worst game they have played on home ice in years, no joke. Didn't deserve to win. Despite that, they were within striking distance and hit about 5 posts. Will need Maggio to be a lot better in this one.

Sell out crowd, need the players to approach this like they are facing elimination. Really need De'Angelis back, if not there is going to be a lot of scoring chances with Jodoin getting some much ice time. Kitcher has a stacked roster but finished 8th for a reason. They played a perfect game on Thursday, but I don't expect them to be quite as perfect in this one.

Spitfires are going to need to score 6 goals to win this game assuming D'Angelis is out.

The big key to this game is a strong start. Need to score the first goal of the game. Go Spits.

Every team has injuries.
Next man up.
Should you have to mention injuries so often..
