Holmberg hasn't scored since Dec. 10, an empty net goal. Domi hasn't scored since Dec. 20. Kampf only has an empty net goal in the new year. Dewar and Reaves haven't scored this season. Pacioretty hasn't scored since Dec. 20. Lorentz has one goal since Dec. 31. No wonder this team had struggled in the month of January.

Yeah we are a mess and instead of putting some of these guys with Mitch to make them score. We get nothing

This what Mitch should be getting paid to do. Make crappy depth players score goals.

Do you have a rule stating that?

From what I've found:

  • No full control:
As long as the glove is open even slightly, the puck is not considered secured and play will continue.

  • Goalie responsibility:
It's the goalie's responsibility to fully close their glove around the puck to make a save.

Thats doesn't allow player to hit his glove/ arm when goalie trying to make the save. A player can't disallowed a goalie to make the save and it was JT did. He hit his glove like ,1 sec later puck goes in glove... How do you want wolf close his glove?!?!?!

It would be the same thing if Jt would had hit Wolf glove like 1/2 sooner and put goes directly in. Jt hit wolf hand at the moment the puck went in his glove and disallowed him to make the save, that's the exact definition of goalie interference

Segel did a piece for the Athletic. The Leafs and Tampa lead the league in top heavy goal scoring. The Leafs get 76% of their goals from their top 6 forwards. No other team comes close to Tampa and Toronto.

Toronto 125/165=76.36%
Tampa 135/181=74.5%

We need to pay Marner so we can keep leading the league in top heavy goal scoring.

At even strength, Leafs have scored 127 goals, 93 by either Nylander, Knies, Matthews, McMann, Tavares, or Marner. That's over 73% of just the even strength goals. Maybe even worse, one player has accounted for almost 27% of those.

We have lots of evidence that obviously Willy can't turn third-liners into scoring dynamos (although he can still score himself if they can't).

Maybe it's time to put the greatest set-up player of all time on the third line to get him to turn players like Lorentz and Kampf into 30 goal scorers.

Is it a wild guess that, if Marner’s back, Willy will be demoted to the 3rd line again, playing with Holmberg and such as usual? Also, for the ones that watched the last few games, how is Marner on the point? Is he always passing Matthews, or does he distribute the puck to everyone? And, does he shot from the point? Otherwise, where does he fit?

He distributes the puck fine but he has a weaker shot than either Rielly or OEL.

Marner prefers to lob wristers at the net hoping for a tip as opposed to actually shooting it for a goal of his own or a rebound. I guess it's better than having him out in no man's land along the half wall like he is when Rielly or OEL quarterback the pp but it still isn't optimal. Just reinforces the need to run two units of approximately equal strength so everyone has a place proper if you ask me.

Marner at the point feels like they're trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole.

A little loose defensively in this one but it happens in games where 1 team is clearly superior .. we need to shore up our D crew .. right now we have Tanev McCabe OEL and Benoit as playoff warriors .. Rielly is a big question mark due to his defensive deficiencies but he can play if his brings his best offensively .. da 6th and 7th guys are a serious issue Tre .. Hakanpa looks finished .. Timmins is not up for this task .. Myers and Rifal sorry they aren't ready .. we need 2 strong big tough fast defenders so we have 7 guys on our roster as someone will get hurt in playoffs .. a 3rd line C would help as well who could play a shut down role .. i doubt we can get these 3 needed pieces .. but we need to get D badly
