At least for these first couple of games, this second line looks great.

Willie turned a corner a couple of years ago and has really taken to being more forceful pushing the play to the net. He’s very hard to knock off the puck and with Patches and JT, they really seem to understand they are three bulls who can dominate down low.
I was afraid Nylander would slack off with his new contract...but hes in the dirty areas more than ever this year. Its almost like he got a taste of the spotlight, of being looked as one of the leagues biggest stars and he wants more of it. Its exciting for us fans.

Its in his genes to have long shifts, but it looks like he is doing very good in that department. Maby because he is out there with the oldfarts, thats been realy good. I have been against Tavares and Nylander combo forever. But that line look to good to split right now. Maby Pac is the magic glue.
Now we got more options if they start to suck.

Woll on the otherhand.. way to long shifts... :sarcasm:

Yeah, some people say his game is the same which is false. He is certainly rounding it out and going into the dirty areas more. Should be at 20m a night though. MM at 26mins ever is crazy stupid for a lot of reasons but burn out and injury is the main.

Yup. I'll say it again - Berube get your head our of your ass. Nylander's a stud, let him loose.

The only way would be to double shift him the odd time on the 3rd or 4th line but why bother?

I am sure Berube would in the playoffs if they were down a goal, but if he can get all 4clines rolling it's better.
Yeah, my thinking as well.

Just looking at the numbers, the ice-time distribution last night was perfect. None of the top players should be over 21 or 22 minutes. They will be better for it come the playoffs.

Any forward whose been better than Willy so far? Maybe an honorable mention to Knies and JT?

If the PP wasn't so ass Willy would be pacing 100+ points
That would depend on what criteria you are using for 'better'?
He's had a great start to the season no doubt.

depend wich version of Nylander you're talking about.

The version we saw last 2 game + TB, LAK, PIT this version was amaizing. In those game yeah he was easily leafs best player and hell of a player.

The lazy version against Boston, STL, CBS, NJ, MTL was awful. In those game he was basically invisible. Its 50% of game

I agree with saving them for the playoffs. I didn't look at the numbers from last night but before the game I saw that Marner had played almost 4 minutes per game more than Nylander which is insane, especially considering he's the one who fades away in the playoffs more than anyone else while Nylander just keeps on trucking.

I think he could be double shifted at 5v5 a little. I have no problem with him playing PK, I thought he was solid at it. And 34 and 16 play a bit too much. So kill two birds with one stone.
Yeah some extra shifts couldn't hurt when the team is down.
There must be something in his game that the coaches see that keeps him off the PK.

He has been lazy on the defensive side.

He's getting 1 extra chance in tight per 4 games... he's playing the same.

Marners team is complaining he’s playing too much is that what dreger said? I think Marner playing 4 minutes more than him is insane regardless of what lines you play on cause I know marners not averaging 4 minutes on the pk

I doubt very much Marner is complaining about ice time.
Coaches will always lean on their best players but it would be beneficial down the road if he played fewer minutes.

I imagine most of the 4 minutes goes to PK and defending a lead late in a game.
