He will always have warts in his game, but he doesn't shy away from the media or make excuses like other members of the core.

His attitude and tone I think is completely different from how he was during his first few years in the league. I don't see the same growth in that area with the other guys. Matthews has swagger too, but he can be quite at times at about it when things aren't going well

3 in top 15 is being generous too imo

They make:

13.25M (1st in AAV)
11.5M (tied for 6th in AAV)
11M (tied for 9th in AAV)
10.93 (12th in AAV)

If we disregard 11M JT then thats 3 guys who are top 11 in AAV

League wide expectations should be

Matthews --> 2nd to 5th best player, who is top 5 in ppg + top 2 in gpg

Marner --> 6th-10th best player in the NHL who is top 7 in ppg/ross race and then can talk about some defensive strengths of his

Nylander --> 10th to 15th best player in the NHL who is top 10 in ppg and is one the best goals/assist threats in the league.

We should have 3 110-120 pt players in these three guys
Last year he was 15th in goals, 10th in points, and 12th in ppg. It looks like he pretty much covered it, especially playing on the second line.

I think he can be a 120 point player with 50 goals, but then he puts up games like this.

I hope the 120 point pace wasn't a mirage, but idk, it's scary.

They really need to move on from JT MM and Morgan tbh. Nylander is paid for, he will get 40goals or so and get the zone while being clutch.

Matthews is our 1C and should be able to take care of the rest. Imagine having around 30m to spend or expand with development. There is something mentally off with this team or in the dressing room.

His ability has never been the problem.

I’ll be shocked if he ever hits 120 because he just doesn’t have the drive. He’ll be lucky to get 100 one of these years while playing his usual 50-60 games.

It is kinda crazy how crappy our center depth is that Domi who's like a 2nd line winger is anchoring 2C.

Willy was motivated by big money and he worked hard to get it. Just need to find a different source of motivation going forward to get him to earn the bank he was foolishly awarded.

Nylander needs to fix the PP slump. That needs sorted asap.

The Leafs organization is pretty foolish. We pay stupid money to support this stupidly rich team who hires stupid amounts of people to do what other organizations do with less than half the staff. They then stupidly overpay players and latch on to stupid ideas like Dubas' new hockey because they feel they can stupidly change the league or make some statement.

Now here we are hoping that these guys will make fools out of all the doubters and win a cup.

What a time to be a Leafs fan.

Berube doesn't like the 2nd. line.

"not much chemistry there."

So we should expect to see changes.

Two journeymen talents with an elite player. Even Gretz had a first line winger on his line.

I've just thought, and mentioned before I think McMann-Tavares would remind me of Okposo-Tavares.

Domi is a center in a pinch.

Really, that goes for the Maple Leafs’ second line as a whole, as the trio of Max Domi between Bobby McMann and Nylander has done a lot of nothing in the past three games, all Toronto losses.

None of the three had a point as the Leafs fell against Boston, St. Louis and Columbus, and coach Craig Berube noted some exasperation on the part of Nylander.

“I thought early on, he was creating a lot of opportunities, scored a couple of goals,” Berube told media in Boston on Sunday before the Leafs travelled to Winnipeg for their game on Monday night against the undefeated Jets. “But one, the power play is not scoring. He (usually) produces on the power play. Two, I think a little bit of frustration has set in with him as of right now, (because he’s) not getting enough clean looks. “(We’re) talking to him, trying to help him out and showing him things he can do better. Also, there is not much chemistry with his line right now.”

They're talking on Overdrive about Nylander being unhappy with his ice-time. I gotta agree with Jonas on this one, Nylander has good reason to be unhappy.

Get your head our of your ass Berube, Nylander's a stud, let him loose!
He is scoring goals at aa crazy rate. Perhaps Berube is right and found the sweet spot
