RHD is a huge position of need for the leafs.

IF you get one for him, wouldn't you do it?

HE could very well be a winger long term.

We just finished year one of the rebuild. We don't need to address every single need in 1 off-season, we should see what we have in him first.

Nonsense, the faster the rebuild ends, the better. Avs send you Iginla for Nylander. You guys could use Iggy as a veteran presence to bring stability to an otherwise young forward corp and provide offense going forward.

Shoot, in case anyone actually needs it, :sarcasm:.

Sam Gagner's return was Pronger's contract. So something similar to Pronger's contract in value.

Ugh. We are not trading Nylander. We don't even know what he is going to be in the NHL yet. Unless someone offers up a package that we cannot refuse he isn't going anywhere.

Is this the guy that plays for the Leafs?
Bag of pucks. This of course will have to be argued down.

His value is quite high remaining with the Leafs. You know, the whole rebuild movement?

Not at all. Why would you trade a potential #1C who is very cost controlled for a potential #2D who is looking to hit a home run on his next contract?

He will be at best a 2C.

His frame isn't 1C type.

Filling a hole is needed. matthews/kadri is a fine top 2 centres.

and lose games 5-4 because they don't have a good top 4.

We don't have to solve all our problems in one offseason. We haven't even seen Zaitsev play a game yet. We're probably going to draft pretty high again. Relax and enjoy the depth down the middle.

WHAT? Tell that to Giroux, or Backstrom.

Should we let him know now to stop trying to improve? We have no idea what he may or may not be. Why not just let him start his NHL career and see what we have?

That's strange - Nylander is currently listed as 5'11, 190. At 20.

Crosby - 5'11, 200
Giroux - 5'11, 185
Krejci - 6'0, 186
Duchene - 5'11, 200
Datsyuk - 5'11, 194

All seem to have done reasonably well for themselves with a sub 6'1, 200lbs and below frame. I personally do, and always have, seen Nylander as being a Datsyuk-type (not level) center. Using his high hockey IQ to counteract the 6'3, 215lb centers of the NHL

Firstly you would need the attention span of a fly, then you would need to ignore everything Management has said and done, finally you would have to be a trade happy freak who thinks every position in a rebuild is sorted in the first two years.

Fact is our team has one trade chip left that is truly expendable and probably available, his name is Bozak. All these trade proposals offering up JVR, Gardiner and our First next year are probably more inspired by the lack of anything sexy to package in imaginary trade proposals.

Fact is we are not really a trading team at this point beyond minor moves. Bozak and some of our young wingers are probably the only things that are expendable and even with the prospects it is still a bit early to say we know what we have.
