Slow it down. Nylander is a great player having a great start to the year, and I've always liked his game, but I'm not sure he's reached whatever status.
Oh, I'll just wait until he hits "generational" for that. This is your own quibble because you don’t want to give him his flowers for whatever reason
Then you’d just say he’s not generational? Almost like you have a pedantic agendaOh, I'll just wait until he hits "generational" for that.
Is Generational better than Superstar?Oh, I'll just wait until he hits "generational" for that.
Bertuzzi walks, cap is there. Might cause other issues. So, how do they afford him?
We are trolling by giving props to a very good player? I don't think its that deep. .Always nice to see fans of other teams hyping up leaf players when they need a new contract
Everyone wants to see Nylander get overpaid or leave Toronto. It’s a win-win situations for the trolls.
Canucks fans are praying that Nylander signs with their team so they can add another star forward that just so happens to be from Sweden
It depends how many people ‘know’ himIs Generational better than Superstar?
Yes he’s the best player on the team and they should give him the biggest contract too, please give him the biggest contract
Dunno. You'd have to ask a Canadian. Or anIs Generational better than Superstar?
Klingberg gone, Brodie expiring. So, how do they afford him?
Not that I disagree with this at all, but Nylander is also the most motivated out of the core players which is likely due to his contract status.Yeah, maybe it’s not a hot take, maybe the bigger hot take is that he’s the best Toronto Maple Leaf period.
Either way, he’s been awesome
As a Leafs fan, I have to agree with this. I think it's a bit premature to bestow the superstar title upon him. I love the guy, but his career bests before the start of this season are 40 goals and 87 points. Great numbers for sure, but not what I'd call superstar production. I both think and hope that Nylander is taking that next step in his career development, but I still want to see him do it over a more extended period of time before I get too excited and confident that this is his new normal level of play.Slow it down. Remember in 2019 when he had 7 goals in 54 games ?I always knew Nylander was a star, put up very impressive numbers throughout his career.
But this season I truly believe that Nylander has taken another step, not just offensively, but defensively as well.
25 points and 16 games is extremely impressive on top of it.
He seems pretty special, and a lot of people might think this is a hot take( or not) but I believe this year he has been the best Toronto Maple Leaf, going toe to toe with Matthews as the best player on the team, And truly reached superstar status for the first time in his career.
Haha let’s start talking about his defensive aspects like it’s super important for wingers. He’s a two way beast that should get 13x8!Always nice to see fans of other teams hyping up leaf players when they need a new contract

He will be just like the rest of them once he gets his super mega deal. He's definitely underrated compared to the rest of the core.
Shocking: a guy in a contract year is having an insane year.
I really like Nylander as a player for sure, but anyone who buys the hype on him now is going to regret it in the future. He's this year's Bo Horvat.
I don't even know how you can seriously say this - Nylander's been outperforming his current contract year 2 onwards. He's been the best leaf in the last few playoffs - I think he's the least I'm worried about.
I'm more worried bout Marner/Matthews contracts than Nylander. I hated the Matthews contract the minute it was signed
Nylander has hit the stage in his career where everytime he's on the ice - I think we're going to score and somethings going to happen. I don't even get this feeling with Matthews/Marner anymore
Superstar is a grading of player level. Not level of celebrity.Very good player, but IMHO a minor quibble that a "star" means one is known by local sport fans generally and perhaps even by the fans of a sport league generally, while by contrast a "superstar" is somebody known nationally, if not internationally, by average folks who may not even follow any sports at all, e.g., Shaquille O'Neal, Patrick Mahomes, etc.
A good rule of thumb is whether somebody has been in an insurance commercial or appeared in network commercials for non-sports timeslots, If not, at best they are a mere star.
Of course, somebody could be a "superstar" to you subjectively, and there is nothing wrong with that if it makes you happier.
I agree that Nylander will have some off years under his new contract. Most likely the first year. Like is 7 goals in 54 games run.Shocking: a guy in a contract year is having an insane year.
