I'm making fun of someone picking a random date to manipulate numbers into making us seem better than we actually are.

There's nothing random about the date. Everybody in hockey knows that things changed dramatically that day. It's ridiculous to argue as if that's not true.

Last season...under Babcock, the Leafs had 100 points. The year before that. Under Babcock. 105 points.

The Leafs have regressed this year. And I fully expect another regression next year as we attempt to fill out a roster around 4 players making half the cap. That's reality. Oh and in the intern we lost a first round pick. Because we are so blessed.

I'd personally expect and think a better than a 100 point season next season will happen. Babcock was never the right guy for this team the past 2 and a bit years. While he did have success, I still believe the Leafs could have had much more.

The only area that the Leafs have to worry about filling out is their D. And even then, we basically have 4 players guaranteed for next year that are currently on our D at this moment (Rielly, Holl, Sandin, Dermott). On top of that, it sounds like there is a fairly good chance Muzzin re-signs. That leaves one stop in the top 6, which is likely filled by Liljgren, or who knows maybe a trade happens. The Leafs are FAR from a state of disaster...

Talk to Pittsburgh or Columbus. Or any number of teams who battled through injuries because they all have decent depth to deal with them.

The Leafs traded their 1st round pick because of Lou Lamoriello's mistake of signing Patrick Marleau, so what else could Dubas have done to get rid of his contract?

Our underlying numbers and play have all improved under Keefe, and we have a great record as well

About those zone entry memes last year during the negotiations/holdout...

Aren't his zone entries actually amazing though? Since he's been with Tavares, he's been almost exclusively in charge of carrying the puck in the neutral zone (he sort of split these duties with Matthews, and Tavares' lack of speed limits him) and god damn he just finds a way to enter clean all the time.

I don't think folks realize just how special of a skill that is. If people instead want dump-and-chase into big-hits and grinding then go watch another team, we don't have the personnel for that.

This is an extremely undervalued skill. It's also far more valuable than any sort of physical play like hits or blocked shots. But it's also tough for people to "see" it when they watch, unlike hits and blocked shots. Lol

If he keeps hitting the net you are all going to keep seeing lots more goals. His shot is too good and his skill level is very high. Good on you Willy. and good on you Keefe for figuring out what works best for lines so quickly. Everything Babs did to condition the players and the fans was wrong for this group. Now we can all see it.

We gotta make the playoffs first to have any shot at all ... and this style should get us there. The kids have lost 3 years in a row now so maybe they will get ticked off this season and impose their will. and maybe Freddy realizes heh man if I want to new contract with Leafs I gotta take this team on my back.

All teams have players with different styles. Willie is looking like a grade A asset at this point, I wouldn't want him to change a thing.
