Very much blessed. Willy the GOAT. Just time to accept it, chief

Pretty sure we had ourselves in a better position this time last season.

We've regressed even though our main 4 guys have all played there part. When you figure out why that is, you will understand we are not blessed.

Time to accept that fact, chief.

Why not? Seems many with no connection to the team at all are overly concerned. It’s more likely that than trying to comfort some non existent hurt feelings.
I know he’s not a physical player but I don’t know why there are some who seem to think he’s mentally some delicate flower.
Lindros still lives in midtown Toronto and is around the city. I'm sure he heard the story. And maybe a couple of people tagged him in tweets. Also, some people have trouble grasping the maybe 0.1% of Leafs fans complaining loudly about a number change, doesn't mean a bunch of people care. And, the complaints seemed more people being annoyed about jersey's being made outdated (which I get, but I actually think it makes certain jerseys cooler because you can tell exactly what era of Nylanders time with the Leafs they are).

I agree with your point about the uniqueness but didn't Nylander also offer to pay for anyone who wanted their jersey changed to match? so really what's the issue

To be honest, stripping a jersey and replacing the numbers will look terrible if the previous jersey had been worn a few times. It was also only offered through Real Sports, which doesn't make it easily accessible to some fans (for example, a ton of Leafs fans live outside of Toronto). I don't really care though. I'm glad he's on pace for a career season wearing 88.

I know a couple of Leafs fans here in Sweden who actually got brand new jerseys with his new number. I don't think Real Sports even ship to EU so that might have been out of his own pocket.

Even though it was obviously a propaganda move after his poor season, it's still nice to see.

All the credit to Nylanders success goes to him. I thought he should have been traded for a D man last year when he held out, strictly business. He has proven himself a guy who wants to win and he seems focused. He kept his word during the off season (that he would have a great year and come back with a vengeance). That's what principled men do.

If a player works hard, has pride in his game and his name, he deserves praise. Even from those like myself, who thought he would have made a good trade prospect a year earlier.

That said, as a team, it always comes down to playoff success. That will remain my barometer and of course, Nylander is just one piece of the puzzle. There is a sneakiness about this teams game though that I think should give fans reason to be optimistic. The scouts have done a great job and I hope they keep working hard to send a message to Dubas "let's do some buying at the deadline".

He came back out of shape?

Didn't you see his insta pics?
Bahahahaha
Yeah. Why base it off his play where he was obviously more than a few steps behind when you can view shots of him topless or going out for Pho to make that call?

You might be onto something. Let's not have training camp anymore. Management can just check out insta pages to see who's been working hard. :p

I took my jersey in to Real Sports to get it re-stitched and even there they just replace it with a new jersey which was awesome.

This is a Willy nylander thread, why are you comparing the team from last year to this year in a Willy thread? Also your comparing a babcock season to a half babcock half keefe season where babcock sabotaged us? Why not use Keefes point pace?

I didn’t see any threads that needing some roughing up so I’m surprised to see you in here .

You can see what physical shape people are in on pictures. Meanwhile, being behind in games can be due to a lot of things. There were plenty of people, including current and former NHL players, who said that he's like a guy getting out of training camp while the rest of the league is in mid-season form.

I always knew he would bounce back and I'm hoping he achieves 30 goals, 70 points. Im sure it will be just a fluke though because he's playing with Tavares :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, those two compliment each other well.

The Leafs are top-4 (or better) in the league under Keefe. The only regression has been an improvement. Unfortunately, Babs failed miserably at his job, but the team has been exceptional under Keefe.

It would be nice if Tavares got into a rhythm and could finish some of the plays being made around him.

Tavares 0.93 PPG ( 6 in last 10 (2 goals))
Nylander 0.90 PPG (11 in last 10)

And who made that choice? Why does he keep getting absolved for his own decision? He missed training camp and came in midseason BECAUSE HE CHOSE TOO. It's nobody else's fault but his. ANd he wasn't ready to play when he came back.

I have a couple friends in particular who would destroy me in a beach body competition. But I can run circles around them cardio wise. Glamour muscles show you're strong. That's about it.

These are old arguments. Nylander dudes...let's all just be happy now instead of trying to prove you were right when you were wrong. It was never a salient argument that because Nylander missed training camp he gets to be terrible for the rest of the year.

It's not anomolous for players to miss months out of the season...injuries.....what have you...I don't see elite polayers miss a couple of months and be as terrible as Nylander was very often or, maybe, ever.

And it's way harder to come back from injury. You can't even train.

Anyway...I think we should focus on how great he's playing now.

Propaganda? He might be the only player that ever cared enough. I though it was insane of him. Thats also what makes it very genuine of him. Who knows how much that cost him to do too. He didn’t even knowhow much it would cost either! Pretty darn cool of him. Much respect from me personally.

Oh I see! It's the oold "Leafs are undefeated since the all star break! pretty much tied for first over all!" argument.

Ya good luck with that.

How about because its none of our business how he handles his business. Being a fan is based on watching the game. Minding somebodies personal finances is sticking yer nose in where it doesn’t belong no!

I liked just staying a fan on the contracts. Easier

It's none of my business if he abandons the team I follow for half a season? Ok then. Who's business is it then if not the fans?

You think scrutinizing what players make on a hockey board is sticking your nose where it doesn't belong? Yell at every single poster on this board then. What a ridiculous argument.

I was going to add that it's of course his own fault no matter what. I just didn't think it was pertinent to the topic of whether he was physically out of shape.

It is pretty darn cool for sure. I'd be surprised if winning back the fanbase wasn't a big part of the reason why he did it though.

Just FYI. If you're misconstruing someone saying that we've been great since the coaching change like 30 games back as just talking about the last two games, you really don't have a leg to stand on. Just take the loss.
