He's got a couple PPG+ seasons in him, he may honestly hit it this year.

I do expect a less goals and more assists going forward though...

He'll score 30-40 with regularity with his current usage. And between 70 and 90 points. He's too skilled, and he's never played with a playmaker before.

I am so happy folks on here who were blasting Willy last year really surprised me. Clearly he has turned the tables around on everyone. If he keeps hitting the net you are all going to keep seeing lots more goals. His shot is too good and his skill level is very high. Good on you Willy. and good on you Keefe for figuring out what works best for lines so quickly. Everything Babs did to condition the players and the fans was wrong for this group. Now we can all see it.

I for one think the criticism was warranted, as TML fans we all know how much skill this kid has but when you aren’t producing offensively and your defence is half assed then fans are gonna be upset. He answered the call and good on him for proving us wrong.

If he continues go hard to the net, play a little harder on the back check this deal will be a steal for the TML. He will also win over his critics and the fans as we love our players to not only be scorers but provide some strong defensive play. I guess for me I just want to see more effort on that side, perhaps because he is so gifted it doesn’t look like he is trying but if he could tap into 50% of Hyman work ethic he could be on par with Pasta IMO.

Exactly. As poor as he was last year, he is as equally impressive this year.
His maturity as a player is noticeable and there's no reason for anyone not to expect his continual improvement.

It appears that in this current year the contract its returning a much better ROI as Nylander is performing at a level his contract and comparable would suggest, when he signed it.

Pasta was absolutely not the only comparable for Nylander.

And following this, Pasta is one of the best contract in the league by a fair margin. Hes probably the most underpaid players in the league other than McDavid. 99.9% of the contracts imlook poor value compared to his

I think And this is my own personal belief is that Management valued Nylander’s potential contract between what Ehlers and Pasta was getting paid.

You’re 100% correct that Pasta deal is one of the best in the NHL.

Personally I think it was 400K too much given his production. If he stayed a 60-70 point player it would be fair value. If he outperforms those point totals then it favours management. It’s not a huge amount but I think the holdout pissed a lot of fans off and rightfully so. I think Dubas needs to understand that there is a time to take a hard line stance and a time to be empathetic to players and what they are going through(Mikheyev). I’m sure if he said to his agent the deal is 6.5 x 6 and if you choose not to take it then your client is sitting out the year the Nylander camp likely starts the season on time and on budget.

I suspect managment looked at a. Rosd range of comparble guys sugned in the salary cap era and figuree that theyd get him inked somehwere between 6-7 mil in terms.kf aav.

Folks can nitpick over a coupke hundred thousand dollars, but imo all that matters is that the contract fits under the teams cap strucutee. And now that the Leafs have a coach who actually understands how to use him to the fullest extent, theres no issue moving forward.

Spend money on impact players and avoid overspending on depth guys. Thats a cap strategy that i think will ultimately prove to be successful

Whenever people talk about how Nylander makes more than Pastrnak they should realize it's only $200,000 more than him.

Also when they now say how Pastrnak is underpaid based on what he's doing today, did anyone see him scoring this amount of goals when he signed that contract back on September 14, 2017?

The criticism was very well warranted. But only up to a certain point. Some of the things people were saying last year was just ridiculous.

Is nylander still among the league leader in net front goals?

Ps: what is the definition of "net front" goals. Just curious how close you have to be.
