Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. i was going to say I’d like to see him get some reps at C. Just in case. Him and JT are developing something special. I like Kerfoot, but a more dynamic player (Giroux?) would be very exciting.
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander have been an awesome line for us. Shocker that Kerfoot is excelling going back to his natural LW position..

If I was forced to keep 2 of the top 4 it would be Matthews and Nylander, and I am a pretty big fan of Marner and Tavares is still damned good.

Great to see Willy lead da team again .. I wish he played every game like last night .. a puck beast .. a game controller .. da combo with Kerfoot and Tavares brings speed, shot and skill to table .. da Oilers could not match up .. then again I guess if he did Leafs would not be able to afford him

Those 2 fluke goals would have never happened without Nylanders skill work beforehand, especially off the face off on goal 2.
That kind of luck is a blessing good players / teams get. Make skill plays, get the shot off and you'll get those ugly fluke bounces that steal you a win.

Nylander never had that kind of puck luck in his first couple of seasons, funny how it works that now that his work ethic is far more consistent, so too is his fortune
I think he'd do very well with these (remember - he put up 0.6ppg as a rookie while making f***ing Colin Greening put up 0.5ppg and looking like a decent NHLer in the last year he ever got to play in the bigs).
But it's also hard to really want to separate Tavares with Nylander. The whole seems to be worth more than the parts.
But maybe you try to revive Marner by putting him back with Tavares, and you have a 3-headed beast. Leafs have such an amazing roster this year that they can try all kinds of things. I would like to see more experimentation. But they are winning without having to try changing anything up, so I am guessing we'll probably be seeing more status quo. I'd personally like to have some more options on the table so that the coach has more tools he understands and trusts come playoff time. I think playoffs reward flexible and dynamic coaching.

Nylander looks like a pure superstar right now. He’s always had the skills but the killer instinct, how dialled in he is on every play, how much he wants those loose pucks it’s really impressive to see. As the Leafs are committed to the Big 4 you really need to see growth spurts from these guys to keep getting value and Willie is delivering.

Not comparing Nylander to Bergeron but that guys an example of someone who is always on top of the puck and really engaged on the mental side and things seem to break for him all the time.

I've been saying this for a while now and would LOVE to see Keefe try more different things. My extreme example was why not try Matthews and Tavares together and have Marner play with Nylander. Yes I know that's two wingers and two centres playing together but so what? These guys are all so good so why not try it? Might work just fine and if it does, you have another look to throw out there in the playoffs and that's worth a ton. I remember how Nurse coached the Raptors when they it all, he coached the hell out of that team and tried all kinds of different things on their way to winning the title.

Nylander did centre Marner for a game actually a few years ago and they scored on a really nice cross-crease play in the O-Zone, think it was Marner assisted by Nylander but it could have been the other way around
I really wanted to go, wtf, but then I asked myself, wtf? Nothing carved in stone.

Anyone with half a sense knew this would be an eventual bargain deal. I will never forget that timeline where he held out and wasn't himself all year. Main boards had a field day with that.

What's funny is that WAR and GAR stats available at the time already evaluated Nylander to be a ~7 million dollar player based on his first two seasons, and it was pretty clear that he still had a lot of room to grow as a player (and I was very confident he would)

Willy has been the most improved Leaf in the past couple years. Willy Styles is bringing it pretty much every night.
Matthews wasn't going offensively, they put Willy there and Matthews starts producing.
JT wasn't going well offensively for a bit, Willy goes there and JT starts producing.
Leafs PP was a f***ing JOKE!; Willy gets to the left/right wall -> starts making plays and shoots the puck and BOOM Leafs PP is alive all of a sudden.
Without Willy Leafs would be lost IMO.
It guts me to see Willy's playmaking/shot ability getting wasted on the Leafs PP. Keefe needs to man the F up and put Willy on the left/right wall.

Or on the 2nd unit. Leafs PP unit without Marner was buzzing -> not sure why they changed it. Special teams are very important in the playoffs; especially confidence in special teams. If we had scored PP goals in the playoffs we end the montreal series in 5 games and at max 6 games.
