If we waited to bump the thread until every night he has a good pro game we’d never see it again.
He actually has 2 points in his last 4 games. Small sample, sure, but flies in the face of your claim. Then again, 12 (no not 120), is a small sample of games to be making a lot of either way. Doesn’t help either he’s shooting 4.3%. If he was shooting a normal percentage, he’d have like 5 or 6 points in 12 (not great but far from thread bump worthy), and no one without an agenda against him would make anything of it. Then again, apparently we aren’t allowed to discuss his great preseason against a better level of competition because it’s inconvenient for the narrative.

You are the one that bumps McGroarty’s thread every two weeks because of him refusing to sign with your team.

If you are going to try to attack McGroarty every two weeks, someone has to defend against the ridiculous bitterness.
Hi pavel, I’m just here to talk about the great prospect Rutger mcgroarty. Let’s keep the talk about hockey, and avoid the personal attacks, and assumptions!!!

Thanks, and have a great day!

Says the guy that made it personal towards me by trying to go after my NHL team that has quite literally nothing to do with this discussion.

Are we still talking about pre season games? It's November 28th.

Come on Rut, let' put it together! WE believe in you on HFBoards!

I wonder if Dubas is offering him up for a certain CBJ dman and if Waddell is saying no?

If people want to reference a 12 game sample every two weeks in the AHL, why not?

Only the games you want to talk about matter?
You're right, I'm on your side Pavel. Elite 6 game pre season run followed by an okay 12 game stint in AHL.

Come on Rut!! Lots of season left to go. Let's get up to .5 PPG by Valentines Day!!!!

I don't think , at least most of us like reading this back and forth B S. You guys need to chill out and let the kid be. He is more than likely going to become a very good player but needs to figure it out. I expect right now they are pushing the defensive game on him because he already has great offensive skills. Might take a bit but it will probably all come together. Jet fan and I thought it was a great trade for both teams.

Skating is always going to be an issue and if poor skating is combined with slow processing, then that’s often bad news for guys who are one dimensional offensive players. This player might be one of those guys who scored a lot in lower levels but will need to change his game to fit into a bottom six role to be an NHLer.

1+1 last night, including the game winning goal late in the third.

2+3=5 points in his last 6 games.

Almost like you shouldn’t judge a player on like 7 or 8 uneven games.

His skating is not bad, it's just mid. He also is not a slow processor. Processing and facilitating IS his game.

He's doing just fine now.

I think skating in general is too nuanced to be labeled as either just good or bad. Different positions and different types of players can be effective with, or without, different skating aspects. McGroarty has good size so he doesn’t really need to skate like Caufield or Hoglander, to be effective. I actually think his straight-line speed is okay for his build. He gets going from A-to-B and gets to openings. Just like on his goal. Where he’s a little rough is the lateral skating, turns, cuts, the footwork kinda stuff. Who knows if it’s good enough as is or if he can improve it. It might be impacted by genetics like hip joints or natural mobility. Or just learned habits from 12+ years of playing a lot of hockey.

Sorry for the rant.

0+4 in his last 2 games. 6+19=25 points in 43 games. Having a pretty solid year.

He’s also shooting below 7%, and he’s ordinarily a very good goal scorer. Could easily be beyond 30 points in those 43 games, so it’s probably been even a little unlucky of a season.
He started really slowly once he got to the A & the critics were somewhat loud at the time, since then, he's start producing at a pretty normal acceptable rate.

Fans of both teams should be happy. McGroarty is finding his game at the AHL level and Yager is having a very strong second half in the WHL; almost 2pts/game since being traded to Lethbridge.
