Slaf was by consensus an intrinsically better talent than for example Jiricek, so the fact he's developing better is not a defense.

We can take a look at where Slaf is now. He's playing on a first like with Suzuki and Caulfield, he's in his D+3, so his production should be much higher.
He’s got 20 points in 27 games played with them this year.

Slaf has been playing good for weeks now and still gets negative comments for some reason

Gets it shows who’s watching or not.
His line played well against NJD. They got destroyed in Detroit and they were barely noticeable against Winnipeg and Minnesota. I wouldn't say he's been consistently good. For me it's still a far cry from the backend of last season where they were dominant for 60 minutes many nights.

The only line who scored in winnipeg. He’s been pretty consistent for a month now. No lines are perfect for all their shifts, every game.

They aren’t as dominant right now but they’ve been pretty good. My point is that he’s been in a positive stretch for a while now and people wanna argue about AHL or him being supposedly rushed as if he was doing bad.

Is that an actual statistic or made up one?
I think that seems possible if it means players that transit at some point in the AHL. But there’s another school of thought that the AHL is more a waiting league where NHL clubs park their players if they don’t have room for them on the NHL team. It’s developmental in a secondary capacity.

Don't agree. He always had a stretch in the year where his play on the ice isn't consistent from game to game. This year it's better.
Those stretches aren't long and his consistency is one of his strengths. His dry spells are comparable to other studs in the league with half the talent (Suzuki had 30 pointless games last year compared to Point who had 28). I thought he was more impactful and more consistent last year even with it being good this year.

He's shown more consistency even in his early days than Slaf can even imagine. That's not to say I am worried about Slaf because I know he'll be fine, but using Suzuki as an example of inconsistency is an extremely poor one.

True but none of them were 1st overall picks. I think you meant D+1 for those guys above.

I know Slaf is young and is a bigger player, is learning to play his style. It's gonna take time, but he's D+2 right now. Next year, I think it's upmost important he contributes right from the start of the season. No more hiding behind Suzuki or Caufield. He has the ability to be a game changer and play driver. We just need to see more of it.

It was said that most of those guys wouldve went 1st overall if they were in the 2022 draft.

Imagine, not even 1 shift at the AHL level.

Straight to the NHL, from 18yrs old.

Absolutely genius player development.

Slaf is also paired with our 2 best players, Suzuki and Goal Caufield.

I shudder to think at his production if he's ever taken off the top line.

He's off the 1st line once Demigod comes.
The worst thing we can have is him taking Demigod's TOI since he's far inferior winger.

From the AHL below:

As the National Hockey League opens its 2024-25 season, the American Hockey League is proud to have 594 graduates across the NHL’s 32 opening-day active rosters, making up more than 83 percent of the NHL’s initial player pool to begin its campaign.

But,

Slaf did not require any AHL time,

Because he dominated Liiga :sarcasm:

Demigod plays and thinks one the ice too fast tor Slaf. I don't think Slaf is capable of keeping Demigod's pace of the game. He should be paired with CC and Suzuki. Slaf will have time to learn to shoot form lower lines since shooting the puck is still a big mystery to him. 2 shots per game is like climbing on Mt. Everest.

You're not wrong,

If we're being honest it's clear Demidov is in another tier entirely compared to Slaf.
