He is obviously going to be overpaid at the start and then hopefully very underpaid at the end of the contract.
Take a breath and stop paper handing the situation, selling your stocks after one little dip instead of looking big picture.

Remember when Tanking meant picking up big talents on ELCs and taking advantage of an artificially low cap hit?

Slafkvosky is so special, and such a unicorn, that we’ve basically forced to accept the inverse. “Sure, it seems likely to continue coasting and generally being disengaged for years to come — he’s tall, you can’t expect a tall player to play hockey like players slightly shorter than them —but I bet you by the end of his eight year contract he will probably be worth his salary!”

Poor kid is only in his third NHL season. He’s practically a fawn. A baby. He has no bearings, no help, nothing. We need to rally together and never, ever expect him to play like a good hockey player. That’s just cruel + bad fans expect such things.

He's quite an enigma. After playing miserable for first 1.5 seasons, he looked like a real deal. A genuine power forward talent in full bloom. Suddenly he's reverted back to old bad habits. What we saw and what he was paid for does not justify a return to the former goals, where it was nice if he ends up as a 45 point version of Josh Anderson.

It is proven that he can be a very good hockey player with a potential to become great. But why is there such a huge gap between his performance levels and what causes it?

Sleep no1
Mental well being no2
Diet no3
Substances no4
Physical condition no5
IQ no6

It was clear from day 1 at camp he had a low hockey IQ, people laughed at me that he needed time in the OHL and AHL.

no one sees Slaf as a no1 OA, 45 pts for a guy his size is terrible imo, specially at 8 mil a year.

but maybe with Demidov he will learn a thing or 2 about hockey and get better
