He might not eclipse 50 points this year but this might be his sophomore slump. His ceiling is not 50-60 points LMAO, it's PPG. I will bet money with anyone that Slaf eclipses 60 points next season.
Logan Cooley is playing in Utah, not in Montréal. There are other conditions. You can only compare players if they either have the same conditions, or show how one player plays in worse conditions (now I'm not saying Slaf has worse conditions, I mean general) versus the other, engines play in better ones.Logan Cooley is 6’0 now and is a point a game player.
There were only like 25 ppg players last year in the league; would be nice but scoring would need to go way up me thinks. A 50-60 pts 230 pounder that can make plays is something every top 6 can use I figure. He might not eclipse 50 points this year but this might be his sophomore slump. Hockey players on different teams shouldn’t be compared? Is this really your opinion, have you thought this through?Logan Cooley is playing in Utah, not in Montréal. There are other conditions. If he hit 50 points as a lanky 19 year old, it's nonsensical to say his ceiling is 50-60 points. There were only like 25 ppg players last year in the league; would be nice but scoring would need to go way up me thinks. It’s a good sign for sure but Demidov will most likely take his 1st line + pp1 minutes so factoring that I would totally consider a 60pts player with his tools a total win. 25 players in the entire nhl means less than one per team after all. I mean look at the list of 60pt players, I see 88? That’s about 3 per team so totally 1st line production (not counting a few standout D’s)If he hit 50 points as a lanky 19 year old, it's nonsensical to say his ceiling is 50-60 points.
We're talking about an absolute ceiling here. There were only like 25 ppg players last year in the league; would be nice but scoring would need to go way up me thinks. A 50-60 pts 230 pounder that can make plays is something every top 6 can use I figure.
Unlikely. Who's screening the goalie on the PP then? Hutson . I would argue that Slaf is the most immovable piece on PP1 figuratively and literally .It’s a good sign for sure but Demidov will most likely take his 1st line + pp1 minutes so factoring that I would totally consider a 60pts player with his tools a total win. 25 players in the entire nhl means less than one per team after all. I think 60pts is a great ceiling is the thing; it’s ok if that disappoints you somehow we can’t judge each other’s expectations. A 25g-35a guy is a really good nhler. We're talking about an absolute ceiling here.

We can agree to disagree on Slaf's ceiling. Gally wasn't a great net front presence, he was just there lol. Demidov will 100% be on PP1 but not at the cost of Slaf imo.I think 60pts is a great ceiling is the thing; it’s ok if that disappoints you somehow we can’t judge each other’s expectations. Slaf has attributes lacking for me that will hold him back from the cream but believe with xp his game will level out and be predictably good..
If you want to go there I’ll crapshoot his best season ever will be a massive 72 pts lol. That would need career seasons for his linemates imo.
As far as screening the goalie anyone can do that; Caufield is the only really short guy. Heck Gally made a career there. You bring 1 or 2 D with you in front and you’re good. If Demidov turns out top 20ish wingers in the league or better at ppg it’s a no-brainer for me he’s pp1 material. pp1= best offensive players for me and believe in not over thinking the game.
I don’t think Dach can take the regular net front presence because I think he can’t sustain the regular abuse Slaf, Gallagher and Armia take there and he ‘ll get injured. Caufield is too short and he’s better elsewhere. If we’re insane and know nothing about hockey and PPs we can ask to put Laine there before he tells us to f*** off.As far as screening the goalie anyone can do that; Caufield is the only really short guy. Don’t know if I’m the guy you claim to have a telepathic link with but I didn’t actually say his ceiling was 60pts, I replied to someone saying it’s much higher to say 60 pts is really good (there are very few ppg players).60 point ceiling Posters' desperate need to seem smart and 'future-focused' and not wrong comes off as so dumb and unsubtle.
Slaf has no clue how to properly screen a goaltender. I've seen Kirby Dach Screen 10x better than Slaff in the past week alone leading up to two goals. Being great at net front takes more than just a big body it takes timing it takes elusiveness and great stick control. As far as net front goes I think you are wrong Gallagher while maybe not great with the screen has been decent all these years because of his ability to keep his stick freed up for deflections and two foot goals. So while Slaff can command space he has to do much more than that to become effective. You can tell it's not something he's practiced in.We're talking about an absolute ceiling here.

Explicable he’s the threat when skating and keeping it simple. His downside is when he tries to outsmart people and gets hypnotized. He should just be predictable and hustle. Pretty sure xp fixes his lows easy. He’s having a lot of good games recently.Slaf can get a lot more than 60pts a season. His upside is very high.
The question has always been: why does he have less than 25pts in half a season, why did he have 10pts in his draft year, why did he have 10pts in his first NHL season (half season), why was he bone dry for half of his sophomore season, etc.
It’s the downside that is super frustrating, inexplicable.
It's an easy explanation: He's young and developing at his own pace.Slaf can get a lot more than 60pts a season. His upside is very high.

Great explanation, thank you. It's an easy explanation: He's young and developing at his own pace.
See how easy that was. Far from inexplicable. How did you like his 2 point game last night?Great explanation, thank you.
I remember Galchenyuk and Kostitsyn developed at their own pace. I prefer the pace Brady Tkachuk and Logan Cooley developed, personally, but it’s a matter of taste.See how easy that was. Far from inexplicable. How did you like his 2 point game last night?
Galchenyuk and Kostitsyn are both head case lazy players. Comparing Slaf to them is comparing apples to oranges. I mostly agree with the rest.I remember Galchenyuk and Kostitsyn developed at their own pace. I prefer the pace Brady Tkachuk and Logan Cooley developed, personally, but it’s a matter of taste.
Thank GOD Lane Hutson chose to develop a quicker rate than Slafkvosky. I respect players who develop faster — again this is just a matter of taste. I won’t be able to convince you the Hutson-pace is better for the Habs than the Slafkvosky-pace.
I haven’t watched full games this past week but I appreciate Slafkvosky is almost on pace to beat his PPG from last year. A flat development trajectory is better than a negative one, I always say.
