It's really too bad today's game is on the road. Mark deserves a proper send-off.

Same. He's the epitome of a quality person, quality teammate. Plays the game the right way. Any other cliche you feel is appropriate. He's got it. I'm just glad some of our younger guys got to play next to a guy like that for a few years.

What happens if Houston wins and both the Yankees and Texas lose? That would leave a tie for the West Division and the wild card.

I assume Houston and Texas would play game 163 and the loser would play the Yankees in the wild card game.

Yep. Gm163 between Houston and Texas in Texas and loser would play the Yanks at home, not Yankee Stadium because they both won the season series vs the Yanks.

Double 1 game playoff? Do want.

I was always a minor baseball fan, but that Wild Card tiebreaker in 2007 is what really brought me into the fold. Even as a huge hockey fan, i don't think anything beats playoff baseball.

Gonna be cool to actually have a stake in the proceedings for once.

Man the Yankees are really struggling. If they lose and Houston wins today the WC game is in Houston (that's if they don't win the division...still possible). People all along have just assumed it's in NY. But man the Yanks got crushed by Baltimore yesterday.

Today is going to be so much fun. The A.L West have like 4-5 different ways of finishing, I am glued to my tv today for sure. Home field advantage of the N.L WC is up for grabs too. Cole vs. Arrieta is going to be an insane WC game on Tuesday.

Yep, the consummate professional. Guy was screwed by Loria on the no-trade promise, which led to him being traded somewhere his family and dogs couldn't follow. No worries, time to go to work and do my job as always. Mad respect for Mark.

At the time he was screwed but I think in the end this trade was good for him. He'd be finishing off on a crappy team right now instead he battled through some personal adversity with the trade and ended up falling in love with the city and the team. Now he has a chance to win a W.S and go out on top like he should.

Arrieta has been unstoppable during this final stretch of the season. Literally. His last 9 starts, 7 of them he didn't give up a run. The other two games he only gave up 1 run. Two complete games, three starts that he pitched 8 innings.

In his last 30 days he's had a 0.39 ERA and 0.57 WHIP holding opponents to a .141 batting average and .341 OPS.

Ridiculous.

Such a shame one of those teams won't even get to the NLDS.

Buck isn't going to dress a bum lineup either which is nice to see.

Thanks. My TV listings are all screwy.

Def will be watching the Angels game since most of the NFL games on suck.

No...we want a Houston/Texas tiebreaker.

either or :p yeah a Texas/Houston tiebreaker from a Jays perspective would really help as well. Hamels goes today, then they'd have to use Gallardo for the tiebreaker. We'd probably see either Hamels on 3 days rest or their #3 starter in game 1.

A potential game 1 match-up of Price vs. Lewis or Price vs. Hamels (on 3 days rest) looks good

Still mind-boggling that the Mets get a clear shot at the NLDS over the Pirates/Cubs who are 50/50. Mets wouldn't be close to where they are if they were in the NL Central.
