I don't get the concern over facing Gallardo....sure he has pitched two good games against Toronto this year, but he has been pretty mediocre since July 7th...82 IP, 108 hits, 37 BB, 49 K, 4.48 ERA...and he hasn't pitched past 6 innings in any game since June 27th (which was his 8.1 shutout innings against Toronto). Actually, looking at his game logs, it doesn't look like they like to have him throw too many pitches...only 11 games all year with 100+ and only 2 games with more than 107 pitches. He hasn't had a start with more than 101 pitches in over 2 months. If Toronto is patient with him they will either crush him, or get him out of the game early.

I think it's just more not wanting to face a team's #2 pitcher twice.

He hasn't been great since July, that 1.70 WHIP is awful, but of those 17 starts since July he's had 5 where he went 5+ innings with 0ER, and 7 where he went 5+ with 2ER or less.

Get him on a good day and it could be a tough game. He just needs to pitch well for 1 game in the playoffs (not half a season), which he's shown he can do pretty much every other start.

I'm probably most scared of facing NYY in the playoffs, despite their record against us this year. That said, I want to face them in the playoffs because if we did beat them, it'd feel so sweet.

I think I heard the best Buckism the other day in regards to Revere:

"He just goes up there looking to put the bat on the ball."

Is he a baseball player, though?
I think most fans just like to *****, even if the Jays go on to win it all, they'll find something to complain about "why didn't they hand the trophy to Donaldson first, he's better than Bautista", blah, blah, blah. Homefield is important, but the Jays ALREADY have home field advantage, the only way they don't is if they play KC and it goes to a game 7, is that REALLY something to worry about......

If the Jays lose a playoff game, what's the over/under on how quickly team payroll will be mentioned?

Mike Wilner :
He's (Buehrle) starting today (per @MStrooo6) and may announce retirement post-game but would stay with #Bluejays in playoffs.

It's really too bad today's game is on the road. Mark deserves a proper send-off.

Minni is starting Nolasco today who hasn't pitched since May LOL yeah no chance they win. Even we have a better chance with buehrle/hutch/Francis.

Yes we should hope for a tougher path to the world series

How is Texas a tougher path? That team is so hot, like you said, they have not even clinched their division and this is the last day of the season. They may have to play in a tie breaker tomorrow. Yea, so hot! :sarcasm:

mets havent won since sunday, for showing little interest in home field, likely to (edit: they will) open vs greinke-kreshaw at LA #goodluck

They are better then the Yankees or Houston. Tho Houstons pitching is pretty good.

If you cant beat the other teams in the playoffs you dont deserve and wont win the World Series anyhow. I dont see the point in caring who you play.

That's kind of dumb. Some teams match up better then others. It's always preferable to have an easier path.

I think Dodgers might win the World Series. My pick to come out of the NL.

What happens if Houston wins and both the Yankees and Texas lose? That would leave a tie for the West Division and the wild card.

I assume Houston and Texas would play game 163 and the loser would play the Yankees in the wild card game.
