They'll both get booed, and rightfully so.

Parise because, duh.

Clarkson because his agent, representing him, said all of those things, even if Clarkson got all sentimental and wah wah wah.

I'll boo them because booing is fun and get over it.

Hahaha very true. Booing is a lot of fun, in general

They will both get booed. But honestly is Clarkson even worth booing? He was a 3rd liner for us.

His agent crossed some lines and he will be on an opposing team. The fact that he's a former Devil just makes booing a little easier. I'm sure on intros both will see some cheers.

I'm in the minority i think. Ill cheer them both on intros. One last time for all they did. They were Devils I think they deserve that.

After that? Booooooo!

Will they both bee boo'd, probably. Should they, absolutely not. They are free agents here. They chose to go home to be with family. And even if they didn't. This is the system. They don't grow up being Devil fans always loving this team, like we do. This is their job. Who wouldn't take lots of money and go home to be closer to your family.

You want to boo something boo the philosophy that Lou has of not signing guys early.

And the only reason Parise will get boo'd louder is because he was the far more important player. Don't let the, he left differently nonsense make you think differently. they both left exactly the same way. (Here comes the, jilted ex-girlfriend lines of he said he loved us)

Parise - definitely.
Clarkson - probably not; seemed more like a mutual parting of the ways after Lou realized he was going to get way more money than he deserved.

Absolutely not true. The way he handled it is why he will be booed more. You dont deceive not only your fans but your own team mates as well and then put the franchise in a terrible situation because you want to take 4 days to make a decision . If it was soo clear cut that everyone would take more money to go home to your family he should of done it sooner

Also the fact that he and Suter and texting while the season was going on and planning to go somewhere together isnt going to help his case either. He never wanted to stay.

His agent crossed a lot of lines. I honestly never want to see a Don Meehan/Newport Sports client on our team again.

Did he ever say he was definitely coming back? The closest thing I ever read was when TG did a fan question thing for him and he replied would you, in regards to signing a long term big money deal. He took 4 days to chose where to live the next decade, oh my. That is so long. Lou had 2 different off-seasons to lock him up long term. What did he say to deceive us exactly. I never once for a second thought he was 100% coming back.

He will get boo'd louder because he was our best offensive home grown talent outside of Elias this franchise has ever had. And Lou decided to tempt fate.

Oh come on. Lets be serious here, was he going to come back after plotting with Suter all year to play together ??? Once the Wild offered a deal to Suter he was going to sign there no matter what. Obviously Lou is going to wait, because if we signed someone else and then Parise we could of run into cap issues. By that time everyone was gone. Then you go on and say Lou had 2 offseasons to sign him, you think its Lou who wanted to give Zach a 1 year deal ??? It was obviously Zach's camp pushing for the 1 year deal. Further showing that he had plans of leaving all along

i think his argument is "everyone is only so upset because he was so important"

obviously no one wants to admit that so we have to make a bunch of different arguments. but really just ask yourself "if Jansen did the same thing Parise did would i give a **** and join a thread arguing if and why he should be booed?"

Well obviously we are going to care about Parise more then Janssen. But look at other FA who left, like Clarkson, Gionta,, Rafalski or even Neidermeyer. They didnt BS anyone. They just left and everything was fine. The type of player they are has nothing to do with it , as long as they are a somewhat important player.

This is exactly it. People keep saying how he handled it or he deceived us or he lied to us. I just want one person to show me where it says I will definitely be coming back. Just once. You can't say he deceived you if he never told you anything.

Well for one telling a fan to "not worry" when they told him to come back is a start. Then saying in interviews all year that he wanted to be back. And then finally, when Brodeur and Salvador got interviewed after they signed their extension they said they both talked to Zach and they thought he was coming back to after what he had told them

Exactly. It's not like agents act on their own. They are employed by players, so they do what they're told. Or they get fired on spot. Am I only one thinking that Lou saying "I've turned page on him at draft" is so out of character for Lou, that it tells a story on its own.
Thus, I won't be surprised if Clarkie gets booed. Though I hope he doesn't. He was great to have for a while, but it came to and, and with a reason. Last season was so telling, imo. He stopped being that abbrasive player, and tried "playing" more. Injuries pushed him into more prominent role, where he failed miserably. I could bet Lou offered him long contract, but much less $$ than he expected, i.e. he offered him grinder type money. Zubrus cap hit, perhaps a tad more.
Honestly, I feel team was due for a change anyway, and Lou did great job. Clowe steps in Clarkies place completely, plus he seems to have more hockey sence. Clarkie couldn't make a pass to save his life, and our offence just needs more people capable of creating something at least once in a while. I'm happy with last week completely.
So I hope Clarkie won't get booed in the Rock.
That other fella is a different story ...

Again, where does it say I am definitely coming back? You have two players who thought he might. And him saying he wanted to come back. He also said he was willing to sit with Lou during the year and talk extension. He said he would talk long term deal in the off-season when he was an RFA twice. It takes two people to agree to a contract.

This is really the jilted ex-girlfriend syndrome. Trying to dissect every little thing they say. Just like some people now getting upset with agents. If Clarkson did the same thing, no one would care as much. It's simple. Zach meant more.

Again it doesnt matter who did it. If you are somewhat important to the team you will be booed. The way Zach handled it is why he will be booed. Obviously Zach didnt ever say he will definitely be back, but you dont lead on your team mates and fans that you will. Did Clarkson do that ?? Gionta ?? Niedermeyer ??

If Clarkson did the same thing, I would boo him just as much

Zach said "don't worry" in response to a fan's plea not to go to the Rangers. He turned down a Flyers's offer, too.

Dude took a boatload of cash and a desire to go to Minnesota. Perhaps he could have been a bit more timely but I believe him when he says it was a difficult decision.

Clarkson, again, I have no issue with. Dude got PAID to join his favorite team. My only complaint in both messes was Clarkson's agent's comments. They were unnecessary and unprofessional.

Not sure where I said the bolded, but ok?

I feel it'd be silly to boo Clarkson because the organization chose to move on from him, it's not as if he ditched us as guys like Gomez did and were deservedly booed
What? Lou made a good offer and Clarkson said no and chose Toronto.
Booes will out sound cheers, book it.

and also if saying "dont worry" to fans is what all this hatred is based off of thats a little crazy. even if he was almost done choosing what pen he was going to use to sign the contract and a fan asked him whats going to happen, would any sane person answer honestly, especially if no one including lou knows about it yet.

like i said, i would prolly boo and have fun with the "kovys better", but im not gunna lie to myself and make up some elaborate story to convince other people that its not just the fact that I am butt hurt. great player left for a better destination during a time we didn't have many. bottom line.

nobody every buys the "i don't care that she left me, its just the way she left" line. everyone knows the truth

Really? Link?

'Cause if that's true, then some of us here are arguing about something totally IMAGINED, apparently.....

I do remember this. Go to TG's blog. And find the question from the fans for Zach that he did over the previous summer. He did it with a bunch of players. I will try to find it.
