I was always hoping he would grow, from 5'11" 185, to 6'1" 205 and he looks the same size as the day he was drafted. He's certainly not 6'0" and maybe 5'11" 190. Fiala may be 5'10" 200, but his core and legs are so strong....and he moves sideways all the time, to evade opponents. I think Alex would behoove himself if he could even get that much bigger and stronger in his core and try to work in that type of style that Fiala does. Even Trevor Moore said his last interview, that he watched Fiala play, during his injury time off.. to incorporate / learn from what he saw.
I mean, these athletes can keep improving and working at all facets like this and get better. Alex has skills, can skate well and can certainly make enhancements like that....not saying he will do what Fiala does, but can probably help himself, by being more evasive.
I'm so wanting Alex to succeed and move past the injuries....and make it with the Kings. I always keep in mind
that 26 months ago, he helped lead Team USA to gold and was a catalyst to that end. I watched all USA games and was pretty happy where his game was at. Zegras was the scoring machine, but Alex was a 200 foot monster and helped drive play....Caufield was pretty much a non factor and often invisible...I bet if you asked (then) 31 GMs, (after gold medal game) who do you want on your team,Turcotte or Caufield? You would proably have 31 saying Turcotte. So. Caufield went on to have a great college season + and then is becoming a minor force in Mtl and Turcotte cannot play more than 20 games EVER in a row. But, Alex is still the same player that was the one that was great that series with and against his peers. if he can only become 100% healthy and get back on his game. IF ONLY.
