You guys are talking about a 4th line player who at most will get another cup of coffee at the NHL level. So, does it really matter? This organization has far bigger issues to manage. Again, this sort of thing changes nothing in this teams trajectory. Only if you're a family member of the players in question should this matter.

It is a pretty small issue that really doesn't matter, and Acciari has been pretty good this year actually.

I just think that a good team should develop 4th liners from within rather than overpay for them in UFA. Your 4th line + extra forward should be less than $5 million total. Spend that money at positions more difficult to develop like top 6 or top 2 D pairings. If Gruden isn't cutting it you go to Poulin, then Pono, Katchouk, etc. until you find someone willing to do the work to stay in the NHL.

Once these lunch pail guys start having a family and making millions they kind of lose their effectiveness a bit.

How hard is this to understand?

When we're a contender again and every dollar counts in filling out the roster for the post season this sort of thing should be brought up, but until that happens and again, it just doesn't matter.

100% agree with this. Acciari has been good for the role he's asked to do. PPL here just wanna hate on him because he's not a curtain jerker in the AHL. If we had to be mindful of every penny to fill out a roster that is playoff bound and needed to add a piece where by that extra small bit of cap space might matter, sure, THAT would make sense.

Also, if a player the caliber of Jon freakin Gruden is a 4th liner, how good are you really? lol

You're very likely a non playoff team in that scenario anyhow.

B-but if only I'd been given opportunities, I'd have gone from plug to cult hero. I'm the backbone of this team, they just can't see! If I was a coach I'd make sure I felt good so I could really shine! - Sully, Bylsma probably.

Yeah it's a thing that almost every team does to some degree. Team starts young with the understanding that they aren't yet developed players and no expectation that the team has to be complete, improves every year through the internal competition and team building and a couple key veterans, eventually they have some success. Now they have to stay there by filling up the roster with finished players because they're a 'veteran' team and not a 're-building' team.

It’s about asset management. 4th line does not make much difference with overpaying vets vs. young cheap guys, abd you use the money for top 6 guys that will make difference, especially when you don’t have Sid and Geno that can’t carry average forwards , it sure what’s hard to get there

Doesn't patient indicate some degree of medical care?

Half of the posters here should be wards of the state.

Mcgroarty is on pace for around the same season that 20 year old Sam Poulin had in the AHL.

Not great but I'm trying to be patient and hope that he figures it out.
