i thought mn needed 4th line penalty killers but whatever maybe he can find a spot with all the finns. mn penalty killing might be iffy this year.

Wow - The Wings have lost some serious depth over the last few days

If you think the loss of Pulkkinen and Frk is going to effect our depth, think again. These guys were heading back the the AHL, we have no room for them in the big club. I'm happy they got claimed, I hope they succeed and be NHL regulars.

He was passed up by AA, Mantha, Lil Bert, and Svech. There's a reason he was waived even with the high chance he would be claimed. He most likely would've been waived when Jurco comes back from injury too, either him or one of Sproul/Ouellet.

Glad we didn't have to trade for him in the last couple years. Would have expected more from him. As it stands, even if he's a bust, it's hard to be upset about a waiver claim underperforming.

Were Frk and Pulkkinen going to play on the 4th line? Didn't think so. That would be a disaster. I don't think they'll miss the weak small forward with a big shot who can't skate all that much.

Well, Pulkkinen is likely to play 4th line in Minnesota. But that 4th line is going to be deployed to score with O zone starts based on how it's being constructed. It's a skilled 4th line.

I get why the Red Wings waived him, but there is no risk from the Wild POV.

Yeah Detroit doesn't have luxury to do that due to their terrible depth. Wild can.

Absolutely not, and it's a solid move by them. I just personally don't think he'll have a successful NHL career. But I really hope he can turn it around, hes a good kid and a hard worker.

Really?

I have been curious whether or not a strategy like that can work.

Who will be on the Minn 4th line?

And how do you think this strategy will work?
