Even Pat O'Sullivan shared some opinions about Pulu:

What a shame if this is it for him, i was always expecting him to improve on skating and really explode in the league scoringwise :/

Patrick O'Sullivan is last person to judge Pulkkinen.
I remember still how bad shape O'Sullivan came to HIFK season 2012-2013.

In HIFK he was more than disappointment he was total bust.
Already in the first match clearly noticed that guy hasn't practiced at all in off and pre-seasons. So i won't give any value of Patrick O'Sullivan's sayings

O'Sullivan completely shares your views on Pulkkinen and you don't give any value in his assessment just because you didn't like him in HIFK? So you don't agree with yourself?

But anyway. Teemu really baffles me. He has the skill, IQ and shot, and to be honest I don't see his skating as a huge weak spot anymore. The biggest obvious weakness is his size and strength, which is pretty alarming as he is 24 years old. If he can't find a way to overcome his size in the NHL rink I guess he's done for. But luckily he can still lift more iron and work harder. He need to eat the same stuff Granlund ate.

I was fairly impressed with him during the pre games before WC. He was fast, scored some nice goals and executed plenty of skilled plays. Then he disappeared when the tournament started. But I still wouldn't give up on him. It's hard to believe that such a skilled guy can't figure how to be successful in the big league.

Also first post, yo.

He should just lean on his stick with the same torque he shoots the puck, when somebody is trying to hit him. He wouldn't fall down so often

Maybe Pat being out of shape and still dominating the AHL while having absolutely nothing to do at the NHL-level actually makes him the right person to evaluate Pulu's performance?

He has been benched by his last three coaches (Babcock, Blashill and Jalonen). He has gotten plenty of opportunities even in the top-lines and in PP as well and has been really underwhelming outside of AHL.

His tires being pumped so hard in the past and him being compared to Brett Hull and all that looney toons seem to mask the option, that perhaps Pulkkinen just simply isn't good enough in NHL? He wouldn't be the first or the last player to be really good in AHL and pretty much useless in NHL.

He wouldn't the first talent wasted in favor of older, absolutely useless plugs like Drew Miller and Glendening either.

They didn't take his spot. Teemu goes from a one dimensional player in the top nine to a no dimensional player on the fourth line.

Dude's gonna get claimed and I hope he can turn it around cuz he's a good kid. But I don't think he's an NHL player and I don't see him sticking around North America to be an AHL lifer.
Honestly give me Glenny for sure and probably Miller too over Pulkky any day(the only thing holding me back on Miller is his age) they are more useful players.

pulkkinen has talent and i'd have loved him to break through properly, but it really hasn't happened. given his skillset, he simply isn't worth anything much on a 4th, checking line.

glendening and miller are limited in terms of ability, but they are good 4th line players. the key point in the tampa series a couple of years back was glendening getting injured. up until that point he'd pretty much single-handedly kept tyler johnson quiet. our PK missed miller last season after his injury.

bottom line is that it is pretty difficult to compare these players, but the fact is that miller and glendening fit a need and fulfill their roles. pulkkinen never really looked like a top 6 forward and was hardly prolific on the PP. he was unable to fulfill his (very) different role.

It's been around 24 hours since the announcement about Pulk & waivers, so I'm wondering how much longer it usually takes until we know if some other NHL team than Detroit took him?

Very smart move by Minny. This could be the perfect place for him since they have 2 very good fellow Finnish centers that he could play with (Koivu, Granlund) ! Haula is another Finnish center there...

A line of Finns? Koivu(pass first, big bodied worker), Granlund(pass first, puck magician), Pulkkinen( shooter?)

Good for Pulkkinen to get claimed. Doubt that helps him too much, though.

They all actually played together in Finnish National team during World Championships. Pulkkinen was really ineffective and removed from that line eventually.
