I think the winner of Game 1 wins the series. The Wild find themselves down 2-0 practically every playoff series, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
I think you are right. We know the Wild path to failure.

But if the Wild steal game 1, this series could go quickly the other way too.

This is one of those series where the head-to-head results from the season really mean nothing to me.

G1 (Oct 20): Granny, Nino, Coyle, Parise all out. Stewie, Reilly, Mitchell, Kunin, Quincey, Ferraro all played. Dub in net
G2 (Oct 31): Nino's 1st game back from injury, Granny's 4th game back. Coyle, Parise out. Stewie, Reilly, Olofsson, Kunin, in. Stalock in net.
G3 (Nov 27): Coyle, Parise, Spurgeon out. Quincey, Stewie, Mitchell in. Stalock in net.
G4 (Jan 13): Nino out. Stewie, Olofsson in. Parise's 5th game back. Dub in net.
-Suter played in all 4 games.

The Wild never really got to play the Jets with a healthy top-6 or a 4th line that was worth putting on the ice. Seeler (Soucy)/Prosser 3rd pair is a vast improvement over whatever the Wild iced in the first 3 games. It's been almost half a season since these two teams played each other. I think fans forget these things when they look at the series results. Both teams have changed since the Oct, Nov, and Jan games. The Wild haven't played once against the Jets with Stastny (for a Jets team difference).

I see this series as a total question mark on how the teams will fair against each other. I dunno if that is good or bad for either team, just saying the team dynamics are different.

Interesting how the Wild were shorthanded in every game. Regardless of the lineup, what worries me is the Wilds inconsistency on the road. If all games were in St. Paul, the Wild would have a great chance of winning. In Winnipeg, getting down early could be devastating.

3v3 OT and SO have 0 bearing on Playoff hockey. I was just looking at the stats to see what they were (81 games played).

Jets: 5-8 (13 OT games), 4-2 (6 SO games). I thought the Jets would have had a winning 3v3 record. The SO record is about what I expected.
Wild: 4-8 (12 OT games), 3-3 (6 SO games). Wild just can't figure out how to play 3v3. The SO is a coin flip so .500 record is okay.

If not for the Jets horrible OT record, they would have won the Presidents Trophy.

And I would argue more significant injuries during the season than nearly any team, including while playing and beating the Wild. Luckily we seem to have the whole gang healthy when it matters.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at putting together a sort of fan vs fan perspective writeup for our work in progress articles section:
http://hfboards.mandatory.com/articles/

Is anyone here interested in writing a 3 paragraph-ish post for us about what you think of the match up, who will win, players to watch, or whatever is on your mind? It can even be a post you were gonna write anyway.

You get trophy points when you contribute an article if that floats your boat :P

Thanks,

The Jets OT record does surprise me with all the talent top end talent they have.

I can't argue for or against which team was injured more when they played each other. I simply just don't know the Jets roster and injury timelines for this year. All I know is the first game they played this year the Wild were icing a preseason game roster.

It wasn't until after the All-Star break the Wild really started to mesh as a team.

This is something @Uberdachen should jump all over.

Well I love the start times for sure! This is the series some of us have been hoping for for years. I am definitely nervous about this series, and I hope I am wrong about the Jets manhandling us. I can't wait for Wednesday though!

Added the start times/days to the 1st post. Now all I need is the channels and someone to make sure I didn't mess up the timezone.

I believe the first round is always blacked out locally on NBCSN, so all of them should be on FSN in Minnesota.

Canadians have walked on the moon

12 men have walked on the moon, all from the US. The last was in 1972. Canada's first's first person in space didn't happen until 1984. Canada was looking into having moon missions in the next couple of decades (last I heard).

According to CNN #fakenews

Just kidding, in all seriousness it’s going to be a bloodbath series so may as well say good luck now before we all hate each other in 2-3 weeks

Minnesota Wild vs. Regular season Stanley Cup Champions.

It is amazing how people continually sleep on teams with less success in the regular season.

The Wild has TWICE beaten a team with 110+ points in PLAYOFFS since 2014, as a Wild card team.

Better humble yourself, those specially whose never had a Playoff win and only trip being sweep.

well my 90/91 northstars beat the hawks & blues who were #1 & #2 in the league in points , then clobbered the defending champ oilers only to run out of gas against the pens. any given playoff series can be won by the underdog. go wild!

The loss of Suter just deflates most hope of a deep playoff run. Even if we get past Winnipeg, will everyone else be able to play with potentially their highest workload ever for a month straight?

A deep run is not impossible, but it feels like a lot of things would need to land perfectly.

I woke up feeling a little positive about the playoffs, even with Suter gone, but on the way into work I remembered that Statsny is now on the Jets. That guy is the Wild's playoff bane. Even without any production he seems to get in the team's (and Koivu's) head.
