Blake Wheeler - Plymouth, MN
Dustin Byfuglien - Roseau, MN
Matt Hendricks - Blaine, MN
I’m thinking there’s a few Jets fans in MN. I mean, who is going to hate on this guy.
Whatever the outcome, Minnesota fans has lots to be proud of. And if Jets goes all the way to win the Stanley Cup, Wheeler will be sharing it with Minnesota.
Sorry , but it doesn't work that way. Also, we've had plenty of Minnesotans bring the Cup to MN before.
Again, enough of the pleasantries. Let's get to it.
And the prize that the winner gets is the Predators.
I'll probably blame the 110+ point team we're facing.
Really? Because points shouldn't matter in the post-season. Minnesota has a lot of seasoned vets, they have the best defensive center in the game in Mikko Koivu, a world-class player in Parise, and some really good young players like Granlund, Zucker, Nino and Coyle. They should win this and pretty handily given their roster.
The hard thing about this "rivalry" is that the Jets have been my second favorite team in the west since realignment. I really don't feel the hate the way I do with the Avs or the Canucks back in the west coast express era. Their fans aren't obnoxious enough.
Look at all this sickening civility from Mexicold. Let's get them so riled up on root beer they thaw a mammoth and trample the queen.
I really like wishing you fellows a good day.

Troll level: lazy
Doesn't help that Olofsson can't go down to Iowa. Riding the box with limited practice time sucks.I've been very positive about Olofsson and his future, but Seeler's play has been more consistent and useful than Olofsson's ever has. If he doesn't get his act together he will be living the life of Reilly.
I have to admit that if the Wild lose to the Jets I will probably be rooting for them. If Buff decides to decapitate Brodin, or eats Granlund during a scrum then I will change my mind. Can’t we all just be friends. . Seriously though, I want the Jets to win, but if they don’t, I’ll be pulling for the Wild against the Predators. Predator chants are so annoying.
It's pretty much a guarantee that Byfuglien will do something both dumb and cheap. That's just the player he is.I have to admit that if the Wild lose to the Jets I will probably be rooting for them. If Buff decides to decapitate Brodin, or eats Granlund during a scrum then I will change my mind.
My dirty little secret that I will now share with the world...I was born in WPG, or St. Boniface, to be exact. Still like the Blue Bombers...I mean, how cool of a name is THAT?
The Wild needs to not get into scrums and chippy play. They will be quickly buried. The only way to respond is by being physical within the game. Retaliation by Seeler or Foligno being a hothead is a recipe for disaster.Hope Greenway is drinking those milkshakes( Snuffy's, natch), and visiting the weight room. If nothing else, having him in the lineup, as well as Soucy and Seeler, tips us over into being a team that is much bigger than the usual Wild teams, and unlikely to be bullied.
Winnipeg is a lot more likely to lose their composure in scrums than the Wild. The Wild needs to not get into scrums and chippy play. They will be quickly buried. The only way to respond is by being physical within the game. Retaliation by Seeler or Foligno being a hothead is a recipe for disaster.
Actually it will be the lack of scoring NOT the d or third line that will be exposed against Jets.Outside of the Av's (the Wild match-up horribly against them) the Jets are the team I'd least like to play in the West.
If we have to play the Jets I guess the 1st round is the best time to do it. Maybe the Playoff experience and underdog mindset will be enough to get past the Jets inexperience and Playoff pressure. A Jets team that knows they belong and can win in the Playoffs is a scary thought.
All that said I don't have very high expectations for this year's team. The 3rd line and depleted d-corps will end up costing the Wild.
Maybe we see different things but the last game in Minni the Wild had no answer whatsoever to the Jets physicality.Winnipeg is a lot more likely to lose their composure in scrums than the Wild.
Really? Wow I hope your right. Both teams have been sound at home but the Jets have shown a lot more consistency on the road. How is that a troll? Points. don't. matter. in the playoffs. When was the last time the number 1 seed from both the East and West met in the Stanley Cup finals? The last time the President's Trophy winner won the Stanley Cup was 5 years ago and that was a shortened season. Since that time:
St. Louis (99 points) beat Minnesota (106 points). Nashville went to the Stanley Cup finals and they were the last seed for the Wild Card. Ottawa made it to the ECF and they had less than 100 points.
Before that Nashville again took the series against Anaheim. San Jose made it to the Stanley Cup Finals as the PC3. Hell the second round had the WC and the PS3 team in 2015-2016.
It's been YEARS in the Western Conference since the best team actually made it to the SCF. When Chicago won, they were 3rd seed. When Los Angeles won, they were the 3rd seed.
Points don't matter at all.
Winnipeg has a young team. Minnesota has a lot of veterans that have years of experience in the playoffs. Parise has been on fire the past 5 games with 5 points all goals. He's catching on at the best time possible. I've never disputed that Koivu is the best defensive center in the game, though I have disputed if he's a 1st line center. Coyle, Granlund both have scored 20 goals in the past. Nino has had 25. Zucker scored 30 this year. Coyle and Nino also add some weight to the game. They are built for the playoffs.
Not only that but when was the last time Minnesota played Winnipeg? January? They beat them handily 4 to 1.
Saying beating them in 6 is taking into account Winnipeg is a good team, BUT Minnesota is simply a better built team for the playoffs.
