Faber isn’t even close to Makar in terms of talent.Makar and Kreider did it right? Idk about other dmen though.

Just burn it. We only need the 2 years anyways.Ideally (for the team) it would be an ATO for a few AHL games after the college season is over. Then the ELC for next season.
The downside is that it leaves the door open for him to go back to college next year and this whole dance happens again next spring. Then there is the added pressure/chance Faber could/does decides not to sign and become a college FA in summer.
Because he could go to ufa if we don't burn the year as an incentive for him to sign.Unless Dumba, Addison, Goligoski, or Merrill, or some combination thereof, is being traded at the TDL, I don’t get the point of signing Faber early.
Exactly why they're doing this.Ideally (for the team) it would be an ATO for a few AHL games after the college season is over. Then the ELC for next season.

I see the gophers losing in one of their first two games, so Faber will likely have all of the April games (7 total) to see if he can handle NHL hockey.I dont see Faber jumping from college hockey to NHL playoff hockey .
If they win the Big 10 tournament I'd expect they make the frozen 4. They should be pretty heavy favorites against the 8-9 seed. Hockey is random, but losing there would be a huge letdown.I see the gophers losing in one of their first two games, so Faber will likely have all of the April games (7 total) to see if he can handle NHL hockey.
If Minnesota can lose to Wisconsin, and look bad in both games, then they are a team primed for an NCAA letdown. If they win the Big 10 tournament I'd expect they make the frozen 4. Gophers were 3-1 against WI, and outscored them 18-9. Anything can happen to any team, but they should be fine. Their depth in all areas and top end talent is pretty impressive. If Minnesota can lose to Wisconsin, and look bad in both games, then they are a team primed for an NCAA letdown.
Wisconsin isn’t a tourney team. They are bottom 50% for all D1 teams. Minnesota should have 4-0 them with ease. And, for those that dive deeper than the score, Wisconsin was the better skating team both nights in Madison. Minnesota got the 4-1 Friday win, but they were heavily outplayed in everything but goaltending that night.Gophers were 3-1 against WI, and outscored them 18-9. This was for Bankier, but probably still applies:Always expect the worst and you're never disappointed.
I wonder if they hold some of these until now to make sure that they don't have to do contract gymnastics around the TDL.
You beat Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State too. It happens.Wisconsin isn’t a tourney team. They are bottom 50% for all D1 teams. Minnesota should have 4-0 them with ease. I see this as another 2006 instance. The saving grace is most 4 seeds now are better than Holy Cross back then.
The Wisconsin series told us that they might not “get up” for a lesser opponent. That’s precisely my point. You beat Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State too. It happens.
My guess is that every National Champion going back has a questionable loss or two.
It was beyond clear that Minnesota wasn't up for that series, and Wisconsin really was.
They won the league by 19 points and demolished every other team in goals for/against. They might not win the title, but it won't be because of anything that that Wisconsin series told us.
In a regular season game after clinching the conference championship. Obviously the hope is that the playoffs will be different, just like we hope the Wild play different in round 1 of the playoffs vs. game 62 of the regular season against Columbus. The Wisconsin series told us that they might not “get up” for a lesser opponent. They hadn’t clinched the conference championship yet. A win that Saturday would have clinched it.In a regular season game after clinching the conference championship. To pivot a bit, KHL playoffs have started. Marat with 1 assist with 20 minutes of ice time in a 4-6 loss. He also appears to have been on the top PP and top PK units. Interestingly home teams went 2-6 in game 1 with the two wins being a #2 and #4 seed.
Yurov back in the KHL with Metallurg but only registered 1:40 TOI with 42 seconds on the PK. I believe his contract is done this year? It would be nice to bring him over next year even if that starts his ELC. Let him get accustomed to smaller ice and big minutes to play opposite Kaprizov or Boldy in 24-25.
It won't start his NHL deal unless he plays 10 games.
Being in the NHL for the season might be the cookie needed for him to sign with the NHL not the KHL.
Hopefully his lack of opportunity in the KHL so far will be all that's needed. Regular minutes must seem appetizing.
Just scored off of a nice read to jump into the play on the forecheck.Lambos playing against Bedard on NHL Network right now if anybody has it.
Noticed Lambos didn’t play PP, nor was he on when the pulled the goalie at the end. Another puck moving dman with limited offense I guess.Just scored off of a nice read to jump into the play on the forecheck.
And Bedard answers back after Lambos' shift.
