Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

Honestly as a Devils fan I see us as Cup favorites.

We’ve pretty much owned every team we’ve faced. I think the Bruins are the only team I’m wondering about but I think we beat them as well.

As far as these potential 7th/8th seeds we could face in the first round they are laughable. Teams like the Red Wings, Rangers, Penguins will get smashed pretty easily by us.
Ok then, nothing like a month old account with 22 post making an extreme post to get the main board’s pulse racing.

Kudos, this will bait the posters who were already hunting for “bragging Devils fans” and now we’ll all get branded that.

It’s not a good argument btw, a team clowning non-playoff teams before the New Year doesn’t show a “Cup Favorite”. Quality of competition matters too. You might want to wait until December is over at least and see how they do when the schedule gets more difficult. And even then that’s just the regular season.

Teams have to learn how win in the playoffs by trial by fire, it’s not realistic to the point of being borderline delusional to say a team will win the whole thing the first time out.

The core of that 2019 Tampa team made the finals 4 years prior. The Devils were drafting Ty Smith 4 years ago.

Devils are impressive so far but it'll be interesting to see how they perform in the 2nd half when teams realize they're no longer basement dwellers. You're kidding yourself if you think players approach every team the same. The rest of the Atlantic division doesn't approach Devils games the same way they would with the Bolts, Avs or Bruins for example.

They have the top spot now, everybody knows they're not shit and will approach them accordingly, will be interesting to see if they can maintain top spot all season long.
What does any of this mean? When did I say teams don’t approach them the same?

Yeah I call bullshit on this guy's Devils fandom. His first post was on a Dallas Rangers GDT and most of his posts in Devils threads talk more about the Leafs than the Devils :D

We'll see how long he'll keep this up, I suspect this account gets abandoned before 2023..

Regards to schedule— it looks like the bruins have barely left the east coast until this week. Meanwhile the devils already had a a couple brutal west coast and Canada trips with a very condensed schedule. Sure, the competition might be easier but the travel and circumstances are pretty different.

I haven’t seen much of the Devils but when they played my team (Buffalo) they were absolutely relentless for 60 minutes. They sure looked like the real deal to me.

And Kevin Adams should look at the Devils and realize he should focus more on upgrading his defense with a couple smart upgrades.

After that, and with some stability at goal, and then you can look forward to GL12 telling you your team’s success makes no damn sense at all.

Every team that NJ lost to this year, they also beat too besides Nashville which was 10 seconds away from being a win as well. There's teams in the Metro who've been dropping games to bad teams recently but it's somehow a bad thing if the Devils beat who's on their schedule, lol.

It's always difficult to believe in a team that hasn't shown it can consistently be good, but this 2022-2023 edition of New Jersey is definitely getting there. I am starting to lack in arguments to explain away their success. They seem to be pretty good and intent on staying that way for a while. Cheers.

Yeah, this take doesn’t at all seem forced and fake.

Andrew Brunette is the whole reason they improved. I'll tell you right now, Lindy Ruff is handing the mic to him and he's doing nothing. If you watch them it doesn't look like the kind of boring bland hockey Lindy Ruff coaches. It looks like how Brunette coached Florida last season.

Boldest prediction is Brunette gets another coaching job and the Devils lose their backbone and flirt with the wild card.

Come on some Devils fans! Playoffs are totally different world than regular season. Even if we could get 60 wins regular season so I would not be surprised if Islanders or any other more experienced team would beat us 4-0. In the playoffs, experience is everything and that is what this team is looking for this year. We are a very very young team and many of our key players have zero experience of playoffs. We have won playoff serie last time 2012 so it is just stupid to yell people here how there is only couple teams that could beat us in the playoffs. And it is just December and we have played just 26 games now! Relax!

I know that it can annoy little bit that some people are taking us down and saying that we have been lucky or something but who really cares?! We have had amazing start for the season and our future will be amazing and our key players will be in their prime after five years!! Guys just enjoy this amazing ride and let see together how far it will take us!

Hamilton
Palat
Tatar

Key players of the team with lengthy playoff experience.

The Devils don't have to allow Brunette to leave in the middle of the season unless his contract has an explicit out. They named him associate coach rather than assistance so the heavy speculation is that it is a handshake-ish deal to become the next head coach as soon as this off-season.

Why would he even consider leaving a bottom-3 youngest team that is 21-4-1 and has even more youth coming up?

Sounds like the perfect playground for an upcoming coach who prefers a speed-based game and already has the leagues fastest team

I think the same thing . Why would he leave a very promising young team that is poised to be very good for a very long time? It’s essentially a near perfect gig. Only reasons I can think of that woild have him go elsewhere is if a team offered him insane $$ or he wanted to go to a warm climate ?
Like it’s been said , I am pretty sure the plan is for him to take over from Ruff eventually , relatively soon ( next year ).

Regarding the Cup favorites crap, I don’t think Devils fans are thinking that. But at the same time , I don’t think we are just on a very lucky run due to playing “lesser “ teams or had an easy schedule.
They beat the hell out of teams , outplay the opposition almost every game this year ,near the top of the league in tons of different stats like goals for , goals against , shots for and against , 5 on 5 play , high danger chances for and against etc etc .
I would not say they are just having a “lucky” 1/3 of a season due to having an easy schedule….

can you organize an additional wagon for the hype train? it's getting tight up here for those, who can't afford a first class tickets.

tage's scoring pace doesn't make any sense.

i mean it's the same player like 2-3 years ago. nothing really changed. or did he grow a mustache or something?

the devils fans believe brunette will take over from ruff next summer. they kept ruff with one year of remaining contract, when they fired two assistants in the off-season. brunette is also called associate coach and not assistant coach.

Wait, are you saying they have to return their wins? I feel like they got them in a completely legitimate manner, fair and square, no take backs or do overs.

Huh? The biggest improvement has been the structure in their own end and that would be the addition of McGill not Brunette.. the other stuff was apparent last year even prior to the addition of Brunette.. Ruff style has never been bland.. the Devils played the same high speed game as Florida last season...
