Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

According to that Boston has the hardest schedule remaining. I would assume that means their schedule so far had to have been pretty soft.
they have zero games against boston left.

No team is playing the way the Devils are for 82 games. The theory is if you roll lines and split minutes you can sustain this and it has worked so far. However I argue it simply isn't sustainable over a full schedule and teams have learned this. Devils have been very fortunate to not lose any super important skaters. When that happens and guys move up, and they can't rely on the depth pieces that come up, then we see more injuries and burnout.

I think mid Jan is when things really start coming apart. I wouldn't be surprised if they hit a 10 game losing streak in the new year
I see you're doing plenty of this right now : 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Keep on wishing...

The easy schedule thing is getting frustrating. The Devils are dominating just about everyone, scoring a lot of goals, getting goaltending, the d group is playing well... individuals are playing well....

Having an "easy schedule" is subjective. Last year, the Devils get destroyed by most of these teams regardless of where they are in the standings. By the way... the losses? Philly, Detroit, Washington, and Toronto... all teams they have also beat... and an overtime loss to Nashville which is the only game this season that they actually blew.

That, and the narrative that we haven't faced any adversity from injuries.

Our 1A/B goalie went down early in the season
Our top 6 UFA signing in Palat has been hurt since mid October
Key power forward on our 3rd line & PP is now hurt (Bastian)

We haven't been devastated by injuries, but losing a starting goalie, our 2nd best all around winger, and a critical power forward aren't trivial losses.

Also, find me a Devils fan that thinks they are going to win 65 games in reality. There are none.

But, they ARE well on their way to 50+ wins which is a hell of a season regardless of what happens.

52-25-5 is a record I'd be thrilled with... and that requires the Devils go to 32-21-4 in the rest of the season which is WAYYYY more than reasonable.

Getting to the playoffs remains the goal no matter how many wins the Devils can or will get.

That's all that matters to me right now.

Before the season, I was hoping for continued development of our Core and other young players (and maybe have a shot at being in the playoff conversation, but ultimately coming up short).

Now? Not making the playoffs will be considered a disaster.

The bar has been raised thanks to the Devils scorching-hot start.

I think they are safely making the playoffs. The only question in my mind is whether the other two NY metropolitan area teams will also make it.

When was the last time that happened? The 90s? I hope we can start seeing a genuine playoff rivalry in the local area again. Those are the best.

As a Rangers fan, I think the Devils are the real deal.... to an extent. They're a top regular season team, but I am not convinced they will win a physical round 1 series in the post-season. They could be the next Avalanche, but they could also be the Maple Leafs. It all remains to be seen.

But will they make the playoffs? Yes, I think so.

I think the Rangers are still more likely to make the playoffs than the Islanders. Islanders are riding some puck luck at the moment and are due for regression.

Rangers aren't making the playoffs. They lost too many quality forwards from last years team, Copp, Vatrano, Motte, Strome, Rooney, Buchnevich, Barron, Lundqvist,,...etc. and replaced them with garbage, Vesey Blais, Gauthier, Kravtsov, Brodzinski,...etc. That is a lot of crap on 2 lines. If it wasn't for the Trocek signing, they would be a lottery team!

That's fine, it's been said multiple times in this thread by Devils fans. Anything they do playoff wise is gravy this year, it's all about getting the kids experience and seeing how they play with pressure of playoff hockey. We're not talking about the Panthers or Flames cores here.
