Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

Great job on admitting you post trash.

How did I post trash? I posted a quote about Hischer saying the Devils are in the history book because of a team record and said this shows how young the core is and a bunch of Devils fans got offended

This speaks to how young this group is. They think this means something.

I get the sentiment tho’ and they deserve to be happy.

WHAT TRASH!

Neat. Your team rocked in the 90s.

Welcome to the main board.
Two Cups in 2000 and 2003 and Finals appearances in 2001 and 2012. The 90s saw one finals appearance for a win.

At this point Im not sure you were even consciences enough to understand what drafting Crosby was besides interesting to your parents.

'the Devils were good in the 90s' , you mean the years they actually ran the trap? Or do you not know that either and Lemieux was just an old school poster on your wall from your parents?

Good grief, I knew Penguins fans were fairweather but I didnt think they were naive too.

Lol my Islander friend did the same thing, what a weird thing for people to bang Nico on. Is he wrong with saying that they're in the NJD history books? Would it be better if a cup contender Devils tied that record in the future and he said something or would people say something like "lol their captain cares more about regular season accolades then winning a Cup". You know the Devils are back when people are hating on the most random shit with regards to them. If they were winning games 2-1, it'd be the trap but since they're caving teams's brains in no one has that excuse right now lol

I didn’t see the full quote. Maybe he said but it doesn’t mean anything yet and I’m blowing it out of proportions.

Just reminds me of the Rags going to the ECF last year and thinking they were a perennial contender.

Sorry. The 90s and early 2000s when your team broke my heart and stomped the Lemieux redemption story in 01. Believe me, the Devils have every right to taunt me as a Penguins fan.

It has nothing to do with that, the Rangers core has seen a lot more winning than our core has. I'm willing to bet Kreider on his own has played in more games than our entire roster has combined. This is their first time of some sort of sustained success at the NHL level for a lot of these guys. Nico was around for the 17-18 team who made the playoffs on that magical Hart year from Hall but this team is probably the first time in his career he's seen a really good Devils team + he's the captain. Obviously he's going to tell his team to keep it up through the media and that they belong. It's not that serious of a quote to mention, lol.

It seems foolish to embrace that with the comments he made.

I get it to a degree because the devils have been mediocre since he got there, but I feel like the Devils think what they are doing is playoff hockey. It ain’t.

Hopefully they succeed. Lots of likable players on that team!
i am lacking the context, but i am pretty sure nico was asked about matching the franchise record.

and i assume the coaches held the win streak like a carrot in front of their players to keep them pushing.

matching franchise record win streak - mission accomplished

next goal

the coaches want their players hungry. it can burn the team out before the playoffs. but reaching them has higher priority now, than what happens during the playoffs.

Well you hold those Cups tight cause theyll be all thats keeping you warm until the turn of the decade most likely

Devils will be contending during the entirety of that. After that we can compare Cups again except without a late 1960s start

Fair take. Good luck. I’ll be rooting for Nico and Dougie.

Hope Hughes can help bring the Us something too.

hold it, a team with a fantastic young core, who brought in a new goalie and a top 4 dman this offseason improving is shocking?

This.

Team where their biggest hole is in net and top 4 dman suddenly gets better when they get a starting goalie and top 3 dman.

<<insert shocked bird gif>>

I try not to toot my own horn and/or brag about 'my' teams players and performances. But it's pretty incredible that a fanbase that has suffered for a decade, can't be excited and happy about a franchise record winning streak, without fans of other teams having to undermine that accomplishment and team performance.

What is it with people who always have to belittle achievements and try to drag down others being happy and enjoying things.

Did you watch the game? Edmonton looked like the better team in the first period, then it looked like devils took over in the second and continued thru the third. “Dominating” is a bit much, their power play maybe, but def not 5v5
You mean edmonton was the better team until skinners gives away??? Youb don't say......

I don't think people realize how simple f*** ups like that destroy team morale
