Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

Skater group performed basically right to expectations. It was having no goaltending that sunk the record and what are you going to do when your NHL goalies are hurt for the vast majority of the year
Terrible pp, not only ineffective but led the league in shg against, didn’t help. The defensive play was terrible and major injuries to Hughes and Hamilton certainly didn’t help. A lot went wrong last season. It wasn’t just the goaltending.

Terrible PP was in line with expectations because it should've been expected to be awful when Recchi was in charge of it. The defensive play wasn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be. It wasn't good but it wasn't awful either. The skater group was in line with expectations. It was an overall pretty middle of the pack-ish skater performance which was around preseason expectations

Middle of the pack skaters, bad d, terrible pp, goalie carousel and some bad injuries put the devils where they were. Average goaltending last season still wouldn’t have put them in the playoffs.

No but if the fancy numbers were to be believed they would have been something above NHL .500. If that was how last season ended this season’s hot start wouldn’t have been quite as surprising.

It's crazy how important Bastian has been on this team's powerplay too, none of the guys who play net front besides him actually screen the goalie. If they can get PP2 going with a Holtz-Mercer-Zetterlund-Tatar-Severson combo, it could be an even better PP employed by Brunette. Luke Hughes possibly being added for a stretch + playoff run would do wonders for that unit too.

I'm not necessarily surprised.. team has tons of talent plays fast. Was only a matter of time.

Depends what you classify as "fade". They won't be an .800 pt% team the whole year but unless the goaltending implodes again there's no reason they can't be a 100+ pt team that either wins the division outright or pushes Carolina and finishes 2nd
im thinking make the playoffs but maybe as a wild card team.

If you exclude like 5 forwards and 1 d-man, its AHL level roster on paper.
and they are still coached by Lindy Ruff... LOL

Strange times in the NHL.

Yeah. Siegenthaler and Marino are glorified AHLers.

Tell me you haven't watched a single minute of Devils hockey this season without telling me you haven't watched a single minute of Devils hockey.

EDIT: Nah, I'm taking some crazy pills. This thread isn't serious. It can't be.

Went to the main board and found the community...

Saying nice things about the Devils?

*checks own pulse*

Wow, this is cool.
Relax, its just the Devils, not that shit state they play in. Don't you have property taxes to pay, terrible roads to drive on, or are you still waiting for someone to pump your gas for you?

Is that better?

Having lived in NJ for 6 years, nothing he said was wrong.

EDIT: I posted some counter-points but after I submitted it I realized I really don't give a shit about anyone's opinions on New Jersey.

If you live on Earth, chances are there's pros and cons to where you live.
