Why are the Devils 21-4-1? insane easy schedule, makes perfect sense.

In golf there is a comfortable par. Where you play the hole to net even with ease. That’s what this win felt like for the Devils. A comfortable par.

They didn’t play down to their competition, they played their game and won without being at their best. This next week is going to be a real test.

it was me.

after the entertainment i found here, i thought, it was a good idea to bring it to the devils board. seems you saw it on the devils board first, which obviously gave you a completely different impression of this post.

i hope you forgive me. ;)
Forgive? No need...this could be the new trend! ;-)

No mention of Fabian Zetterlund too who's been super impressive this year.

They're legit contenders this year if the goaltending holds.

I for one am stunned the team with two high end 1st line centers, one of the best 6 man D-Cores in the league, and Jesper Bratt is doing well lol

the crazy part is they haven't even played all that well the past week or so, yet they keep churning out wins. Oh they also started their 3rd string goalie (technically 4th I guess if you count Bernier?) tonight due to injuries.
5th really, Daws is above Akira on the chart but they left him in Utica to play ( he played last night ) hence why he sat today.

Have not followed them but a good friend is a huge Devils fan and he says while they are legitmately decent this year he says they've had a combo of playing about 6-7 bad teams and the good teams have layed eggs in their games against them more often than not so he is cautiously optimistic for now

haven’t seen a Devils game yet...
Andrew Brunette (?)
Does Ruff have them playing more like Quenneville’s up tempo style that Brunette brought from FL?

edit: and if so, I’ll be sure to catch some Devils games.

They have played an up tempo style the entire time under Ruff. The difference is that their young players have developed more, they have added some key pieces, and have cleaned up a lot of the issues/mistakes.

The Devils have been up tempo for a while. Problem was that previously NJ was too one dimensional. They were always good in transition because of their speed, but they couldn't cycle or forecheck worth a damn. This year they can.

I think it's a combination of the removal of Recchi and some roster adjustments (Zetterlund, Haula, healthy Hischier, healthy Wood).
