Sean Monahan & Sam Bennett.

The amount of injuries Monahan had last year were absurd. There was an article posted about it on our forum; like he shouldn't have been playing most of last year injuries. He still had a career year. I think he takes that step and enters the fray with bigger named centres.

Sam Bennett is finally going to get a chance since his rookie season, to play with real NHL'ers all year. He'll likely play with Ryan and Frolik, two NHL vets who've shown they can score in the past. There's been a lot of praise for Sam by the Flames media/team this season, so, it'll be exciting to watch him.

Today I learned Eichel hasn’t broken out yet. He’s averaged more points per game then Matthews since Auston arrived (0.94 > 0.88) 121 pts in last 128 games playing in low motivation games with a rookie head coach, An abysmal offense and two sprained ankles.

Leaf fans don’t need to quote this cause I’m not saying he’s better in just stating how can a guy who’s done that not have broken out?

I think I see what your saying though due to injuries with his point total being 65, you probably mean a regular 80 or higher guy but I don’t know given who you selected him with , two others guys who barely have points.

I like your picks though all things considered if you meant the second thing I said.

Even then I like Dylan and Jesse o to break out.
Yeah I predict a 85+ point season for him. Which is a breakout year.

50-60 for Jesse and Dylan.

Nylander's advanced metrics show he was much more lucky than not last season. His 5v5 oiSH% (12.03%) and PDO (105.7) were both way above his career averages.

Only 1 forward (Auston Matthews) had a higher oiSH% and PDO than Nylander last season.

The Leafs also scored 18 more goals (71) than expected (53) with Nylander on the ice last season.

So saying Nylander was unlucky last season is a false statement.

PDO is a strange stat to bring up in the context of an offensive breakout discussion.

Would 82 points for ROR be considered a break out year? Or is he considered too old at 27 to be a break out player? Centering Tarasenko will net him 82+ pts for sure. Tarasenko has never had a legit center either. I can see 50G from him. Put Maroon on LW and that line will be tough to stop.

I can only speak for TB, but I think Mathieu Joseph will make a (small) name for himself, if given a fair shot. And I think Brayden Point will flirt with a point per game.

as The game skews younger there will be a number of players that take the step forward this year. Any young talented player in a top six with good line mates that gets PP time should be a good candidate for a breakout. I’m sure there are numerous examples around the league.

From Anaheim:
Kase, Montour... and not really a breakout but I feel Rakell can get 40/80.

In league:
Poolparty, Bennet, Patrick, Kempe

Henri Jokiharju. Mainly because with the Murphy injury and our overall crappy D core, he’s gonna be getting a lot of minutes.

What do you think Hudon will do this year?

I'd be surprised if he hit 35 points.

Depends on his role but if he gets offensively capable linemates (please don't fix him to Plekanec all year long thank you) and is constantly on one of the PP combinations, I don't think 50 points is out of question. That's obviously quite a leap from last year but he definitely looked like more than a 30 point player to me.
