Bozak was a free wallet. JvR for Schenn was a good trade for us. Drafted Rielly which is probably by a long shot his best move.

Unfortunately the Kessel trade stunk.
I think Schenn was a great pick but he was handled so poorly. Rielly I agree. I do believe that blowhard when he said he would've picked him 1st oa

Long story short, I don't want Burke anywhere near this team, and Treliving by proxy

Don’t think any of them get traded this year
New gm will want a chance with an elite team no matter how much we want that

Things will only happen when tavares comes off the books

Maybe short deals till tavares expires to then cash in and not hurt the team

Basically WHY we needed a diff GM
Both Matthews and Nylander come up for renewals before Tavares comes off the books. Those will be the events that determine the future of the club.

It what I’m saying
Doubt matthews goes anywhere even if overpaid
Nylander I can maybe see going but
Not much will change because our cap situation is stil gonna be difficult with little assets for trades

It’s only when tavares contract ends we will be able to improve the roster

All I meant

Coach, I actually want a solid grit grinder former player to coach even if he has no prior experiences. Bc coaching at the NHL level is more to do with managing players.
GM, need someone with WINNING front office exp., need someone who had experience building a playoffs winning team. Ideally someone who built a playoff winning team without superstar talents.

Chris Johnston just broke this from his website NorthStar

Brad Treliving is the early front runner. Fills one of Shannys requirements which is an experienced GM.

If that is true you guys who all wanted Dubas gone get to experience this:

2014-15 - Flames make the playoffs

2015-16 - Flames miss the playoffs

2016-17 - Make the playoffs. Trade their first in the off season for Hamonic.

2017-18 - Miss. The first ends up being the 10th overall pick. Trade Hamilton+ for Lindholm and Hanifin in the off season.

2018-19 - Make, was one of the best teams in the league.

2019-20 - Had the final playoff spot when the season was suspended. 50/50.

2020-21 - Miss playoffs in the easiest division.

2021-22 - Make playoffs, one of the best teams in the league.

2022-23 - Miss playoffs.

Probably the worst quote from that article is this:

The other candidates: Chiarelli, Bergevin, Shero, Hextall,

I would love Bowman and Quennville.
I think they could maybe deal with the Beach cloud of one of them but not both and Bowman was far enough up the food chain he legitimately wears more of failure. I did see somewhere where they thought Bowman might have to come back as an AGM to get another shot but there is still an aggressive contingent of voices who want him shunned forever

Tulsky, Poile, Treliving

Haven't heard anything but Pridham would be good to keep around.

No chance the board approves Bowman or Quenneville imo.

Hard to say. There's some obvious names and I hope they find the right person.

Tulsky is the flavour of the week but he's someone with very little managerial experience. More of the same to me. He would obviously continue the allure of a smart front office that doesn't rely on dinosaur levels of building a team.

Treliving seems ok but not sure if he'd be the guy to take over and make some very tough decisions. He flubbed a huge one in Calgary, but outside of that I think he's alright. Seems capable and has done it before.

There's like a list of 10 or so names that could do ok.
Any ex leafs rumoured? Gary roberts etc ?

So you'd rather have, who?
No question, I’d take the Stan Bowman/Joel Quenneville combination of proven champions that won three Cups over a six year span.

I realize they have done baggage that might cause some of the kooks in MLSE to hyperventilate, but considering Toronto hired a coach who was a buddy of David Frost and Mike Jefferson it’d be hypocritical to not hire Bowman and/or Quenneville.
