Conduct individual player meetings to see who views who as the leaders, and proceed to name Spezza, Rielly, and Muzzin the 3 A's. Tell everyone is eligible to win the Captaincy once they prove that they are in fact the leader. And then I trade Marner and Matthews for McDavid.

That man created so much consistency in St-Louis. Not many bad seasons and so many huge trade steals, drafts and signings.

Need a GM with experience.

No rookies and no one who is currently with the front office. If Dubas can’t do an ok job, I fail to see why anyone would think his assistants would do any better.

Remember the goal isn’t to do better than Dubas because the bar is too low. The goal is to win a Stanley and the next GM has an important role: make a massive trade to shake up the core or strip it down and rebuild.

No way MLSE signs off on a rebuild yet. Like what Pittsburgh and Burke is doing with the Crosby, Malkin and Letang core, you have to give contention another shot.

New GM comes in and tinkers with some small moves to take the team to the deadline. If they fail then you can retook and sell and make your big moves in the offseason.

It's funny, besides JFJ's not-so-great run over here, I also didn't like him for a while because O'Dog said he was a big meanie. Fast forward a few years, and I now realize O'Dog was a MASSIVE d-bag when he was in the NHL and JFJ punished him accordingly. I like that JFJ stood up to him.

Yes all of those moves were horrible. And most were made by the leafs board, using a rookie GM as a figurehead. Just like the removal of pat quinn over personal issues with peddie.
I’m not advocating for JFJ’s return. Just stating that he was not actually running the leafs.
whomever the leafs bring in, please let it be someone with experience.
