Seems like you don't know how the voting for Conn Smythe works.
Every voter has two different sets of votes: one for each team winning. There's zero chance McDavid is in anyone's top2 for the Panthers win scenario. Zero.
That's only relevent in a game 7 scenario. If it's game 5 or 6....only Panthers can win.
And yes - my comment is implying that in a Panthers win scenario, a lot of voters would still have McDavid #2 based on how strong his run is. Most might hesitate to vote for him #1 (because they'd want the winner to come from winning team), but then vote him #2. And if Bob/Barkov split first place votes, we could have a scenario where McDavid wins based on mostly a bunch of #2 votes.
There aren't any vote breakdowns provided for 2003 is there? As far as I know it's only very recently they started sharing detailed vote results for Conn Smythe.
Because if there was a similar breakdown for 2003, I'd be very curious to see how many first place votes Giguere got, in a losing cause.
