If I'm taking a defenseman at 2, it's Dickinson. I'm on record saying he will be the best defenseman in this class. And this is coming from someone who has repeatedly said Yakemchuk is my favorite defenseman.

But I like Levshunov alot. At worst he's still a top 4 defenseman. If he turns out to be Seth Jones without the big salary, you take that. If he hits and he's Brent Burns you just hit a homerun with the pick.

What if he’s f***ing Bogosian 🥴

Here we go with the Bogosian talk again.

Levshunov is Erik Karlsson IN PLAY STYLE with size and better D. He is wild and running around all over the ice for better and worse. He will be a 4th forward on the rush and in the zone and we will complain often and loudly about it. But you’ll finish the season, he will have 50-80 points and you’ll say it’s worth it.

Everyone has this impression that he’s a “safe/boring pick”. He isn’t. he is an absolute wildcard and IF he actually improves his awareness he is a Norris caliber defenseman.

I first mentioned Bogosian, not as "safe pick", but as a guy who dominated junior based on physical gifts/early development who struggled thinking the game at NHL speed.

Not speaking directly about Levshunov (because I haven't seen him play enough to have an opinion), but guys who are aggressive offensively because they're unsure of the smart play scare me. Hopefully, that's not Lev.

I can't figure out why it is that Demidov and Levshunov have 90% of the votes between them. Sure Demidov is skilled player but he is hardly risk free and to my mind he's not the perfect compliment to the Hawks' roster of smallish speedy forwards.

Why is Cayden Lindstrom not getting more love? He's a tantalizing combination of size, speed, skill and snarl yet he continues to poll at 1%. I have no problem imagining him on left wing as Bedard's designated sniper or centering a powerful second line much the way the Oilers have employed Draisaitl over his career. A 500 goal career is not out of the question. Of all prospects not named Celebrini, Lindstrom may make the most sense.

Similarly, Levshunov is a first class prospect on defence but so are Dickinson, Silayev, Buiim or two or three others. Yet Levshunov is pretty much all you hear about.

Don't be surprised if draft day is full of surprises.

I mean his hard skills— shooting passing SKATING are well beyond Bogosian. I cannot see Levshunov being Bogosian. He is all over the place on the ice. It’s messy and awesome. Will be a give and take defenseman.

Powers today talked about how the combine concensus seemed to be that Lev has huge upside with a very projectable body. Also says that he has never had a true offseason and a weight plan. Found that interesting. The dude is just showing up and dominating the big ten on pure vibes.

Shucks if only we had an elite young stay at home 6’6 LHD to pair with him to make the perfect combination or recklessness and responsibility.

Vlasic and Levshunov will be a pair for a decade and be called the Killer Vs. We will roll our eyes at some dumb plays he makes and his goofy personality. He’s a true goober.

You're describing Parekh not Lev.

Nobody wants an eighteen year old with back problems at two.

Of course nobody wants a player with chronic back issues .. the point is we don't know what the actual status is in regards to his health. If there are questions at the end of the day then the Hawks won't draft him but if all indications are of a completely healthy back, hand and what have you then I for one think he should be up for serious consideration. We don't have a big, snarly not to mention skilled C in the pipline.

If he had a completely healthy back we wouldn't be talking about it? Like what?

How do you feel about Demidov's history of knee injuries?

The question in either case is the likelihood of a chronic problem. At least, Lindstrom brings a skill set that the team (and many others) sorely lacks.

Knees vs Back? I know what I'm taking more serious.
You might well be right but I prefer to confirm your opinion of someone that has actually gone to medical school.

Both of Demidov's knee/leg injuries were a result of plays that looked avoidable but instead of pulling up he tried to split multiple guys, more of a maturity/IQ issue. Plus, it's also an issue of the unknown, AFAIK nobody here knows the medical details of those knee injuries he had this past season so it's a bit of gamble.

Whereas I'm sure teams are more away of the details regarding Lindstrom's issues.

Levshunov had only one dinner, and it was with Chicago Blackhawks. Ready to get that player Chicago fans?
