Long winded reply to, I want anyone but Keefe.
You see year after year this team collapse in specular fashion, up 3-1 to lose in 7 games, getting whooped by a 8th seeded team, up 3-2 in a series and lose in 7, up 4-1 going into the 3rd and lose, granted that was not with the players on this team but that stench lingers over this franchise. What does everyone of those teams have in common? Fear... fear of losing. Fear ... that they are not good enough. Fear that they will be the person who is the guy who makes the "mistake" that decides their season. Where does that fear come from? it's IMO a pretty simple answer, this team lacks confidence because they lack control of the outcome. They individually skill their way to wins, they don't play their way to a win as a team. How do you get confidence, outside of being a sociopath
. You do something over and over again until you master it.
Now think about this team and how many times we spring to a 2 or 3 goal lead on individual skill, only to allow the other team back into the game. How many times did this team actually look like they mastered the art of controlling the outcome. Now think about what that lack of control does to the players mindset? They have repeated, time over time, poor behaviors that allow the other team to think they have a chance. That has to stop. The Leaf players don't know one game from the next what box of chocolates they are going to be, this all comes from not mastering their game.
Long story short they need a coach that can establish an effective system that is repeatable game over game. A system that allows the Leafs to believe that they can control the game. Next you need a coach who is a tactician. Finally you need a coach who can manage the many privilege egos that comes with young superstars.
For me its:
1) Quenneville
2) Brunette
3) Gallant
4) Carbery
5) Boudreau
