Do. Not. Want.

Nooooooooo:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 1m

PIT assistant GM Jason Botterill likely to take over on an interim basis. Shero likely to immediately become frontrunner for GM job in WSH.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

What a circus. Ted and Dick had better get on the stick. They're going from a position of high leverage to just another job in a pool of open positions.

I rather have Shero then Bylsma. That being said, Shero is the opposite of McPhee.

Can't draft worth a damn but trades a ton during the year. I see no difference between them

I will admit....I've always liked Shero's willingness to make moves to improve the team. So I wont be completely against him coming in.

Its the coach from there I dont want.

If they can get Shero and Trotz...thats a win.

If the amateur scouting staff and budget remain intact, it would help mitigate Shero's biggest weakness.

I would much prefer Bylsma to Shero if we hire one.

The one guy on the CSN Washington forum who *claims* to have insider info (and is almost always proved right) says he expects Shero to be named GM and Trotz to be named head coach on Monday (according to general NHL sources, not his Washington source). I consider him to be pretty consistently reliable, for whatever it's worth (which is probably not much).

The problem with Shero is he drafts horribly and he has still failed to build the proper team round the stars...the same issue we've had here.

A GM needs to make a complete team and he hasnt proven he's been able to do that.

I'd rather someone that has shown they can do that at some point in the past.

Well...the Caps have drafted pretty well in recent history with Mahoney calling the draft shots. If he stays with the existing scouting staff...the draft is covered.

Yeah, the team building thing is a major factor...but the Pens have been in the thick of it every year. Its a risk with any GM...so Ill take Shero with his willingness to make moves. He has a lot to work with on the existing roster to make it better.

Mckenzie suggests Shero as gm. Count me out. He could have built a Conte Der but failed to address needs. No thanks

Would you guys rather have..

Fenton / Byslma

Fenton / Trotz

Shero / Byslma

Shero / Trotz

If you could match them?

Of those 4 options, the following ranking:
Fenton/Byslma
Fenton/Trotz
Shero/Byslma
Shero/Trotz

Of all plausible options:
Will/Byslma
Will/Dineen
Will/Trotz
Fenton/Byslma
Fenton/Trotz
Fenton/Dineen
Benning/Byslma
Benning/Dineen
Benning/Trotz
Shero/Byslma
Shero/Dineen
Shero/Trotz

So, it sounds like we're getting my least favored option.:cry:

At least it's still an upgrade over any regime involving Hunter or Oates.

Caps need to calm the **** down and think this through. Don't be rash

Shero cannot draft and he didn't address needs. Get someone else
