Dahlin depends on what Buffalo thinks Power will be. Still risky.

As much as Tkachuk is an impact player, top ten, I think Florida pulls the trigger.

MacKinnon is a tough one. Through out regular season. Does Sakic think Bedard can replicate what MacKinnon does in postseason? That's 50/50.

Edmonton won't trade McDavid becausethe owner steps in. The risk is also not knowing whether Bedard can be a PO ppg player. And would Bedard be #2 C after Draisaitl?
Does Sakic think he replicate what Mack does in the Regular season? That's also a high high bar. A 120 point player.

The Caps are not going to watch Ovi (potentially) pass Gretzky in another jersey. Some decisions are not as straightforward as who will be the better player moving forward.
Seriously every Capitals fan should be livid if Bedard was offered straight up for Ovi, not that the Black Hawks are going to trade him anyway but the point remains the same.

Yes the decision would be a straight forward one in this hypothetical.

No, actual scouting agencies have called players generational. Both Crosby and McDavid were genuinely labelled generational by multiple scouting agencies.

No one did that for Bedard. He was not considered a generational prospect prior to this season by anyone other than the media.

He's undersized for the NHL, and put up the same number as Patrick Kane in junior this season - Patrick Kane was also never considered generational.

The media loves to use the word generational because it's exciting though. If you count players the media labelled as generational - most of them are not.

Players the media labelled generational that weren't:

Lindros
Wright
Tavares
Daigle
Eichel
Lindros was 100% the guy he was touted to be except the concussions cut his career short. He was still every bit the player he was predicted to be.

Do a poll on the Bruins board.

I guarantee you most would do the trade.

You never decline getting a generational prospect for a one dimensional winger.
You're delusional. Prospect is the keyword here. One dimensional just means you do not watch Bruins games or know much about Pastas game. Locjed yp long term, his defensive game has come a long way in the last couple of seasons and he not afraid to go to dirty areas or make big hits to make plays. He's a big guy at 6'1 and 200 lbs who likes to play physical when needed. compared to Bedard? His biggest knock is his size guy is 5 foot 9 and under 180 pounds. Not many Bruins fans would trade current Pasta for an unknown Bedard

That's insanity. You're getting Bedard on an ELC. Pasta will make double digits.

The list should be very, very short given the cost control that Bedard provides and the huge benefit of having him on his ELC whereas any comparable player is going to come with a ten figure cap hit. For my team the only answer is Ovechkin but that’s more for sentimental reasons than who makes the team better.

Across the league McDavid is the only guy in the “definitely not” category for me. Guys in the “maybe” category are Draisatl, Makar, MacKinnon, and Pasta. Everyone else would be fair game.

Edit: couldn’t see Pittsburgh trading Crosby either.
Replace drai(backpack) with Marner and add matthews to MCD and I agree.

As a rebuilding team I dont think the Hawks would trade for any one for the number one pick. How old will McDavid be when the Hawks have a realistic chance to win. If Bedard ends up not being a super star it just means down the road they will have more money to build a better all round team.

People forget just how BIG a target he had on his back due to the Draft Day fiasco. Players would go out of their way to put the big hit on him, legal or not.
Have to agree about the concussions. As with any players whose career was cut short due to some form of injury, it would have been very interesting to see just what his numbers might have been.
That being typed, his style of play throughout his career was the type that led to injuries. If he changed his style, he would not have had the same impact he did when he was healthy.

He was a physical prototypical powerforward who unfortunately got one bad concussion which led to bunch more, which tends to happen. But the guy is still top 20 all-time in PPG and that's with his last 4 seasons, where he was clearly a shell of who he was, 130 points in 200 games.

Quote me here at will later, Ill own it up.

I would NOT trade a current top 10 player for him.
I believe there will be some kind of disappointment, too much overhype.

Habs fan here. Caufield would be the closest to someone I wouldn’t trade for Bedard ( pre draft ).

They are both elite goal scorers but onviously if Bedard hits his potential it’s a no brainer. I’d rather have them both.

Good list but I bet Dallas fans keep Miro and Rangers would want to keep Fox. That I’d agree with…. But I think Dolan would want Bedard.

Minny definitely thinks hard on Kaprisov.
