I'd prefer no rentals. Most of the team is unsigned for next season. Do we really need another guy who probably won't be here? Add to the core. No more guys hitting the tail end of their career.

Callahan and Moore will be back in 7-10 days. Remove Mashinter from the mix. Assuming the current guys remain healthy. That's 13 forwards. Is Pyatt the healthy scratch? Send Miller to the AHL?

Miller has done nothing to go back to the AHL right now. he has been doing good work on the PP and goes to the net. even if he isnt scoring goals, he is still helping in other areas... Mashinter and Pyatt should go to the AHL over Miller.. if Miller gets scratched over Pyatt, let us hope that Rangers is showcasing Pyatt :shakehead

miller should stay. he can play av's uptempo game and add some size and edge to this team. his big body in front is exactly how we will score the dirty goals we need to in close games. he needs to play the 3c with hags and cally when he returns.

that would be one solid 3d line.

i still make a bigtime move for young forward with size and hands. we need goals and who knows on nasher.

a rhd who can skate would be essential if we move a dman out.

boyle, del zotto, girardi and mcilrath are all in play afaic.

Moulson stinks. He is great around the net but a complete loss in every other part of the ice. He doesn't compete for loose pucks. He doesn't hit anyone.

The Rangers shouldn't be trading any of their picks. They didn't have pick in the first or second round in June.

You want to add a rental. Trade Boyle and/or Moore for a 2nd and flip that pick for the rental.

The Rangers need to add speed in their bottom six. Speed, skill and offense. No band aids either.

There aren't a lot of true snipers who do much else. A pure finisher is something the Rangers presently lack.

Still, if they do buy out Richards, there are decent replacements available this offseason without making a trade. That is probably the best crop of free agent forwards in ten years.

Please this. If we are trading for a guy he should be a younger guy under contract or still has RFA status.

Columbus wants to see more from Gaborik

Jarmo sounds like Tortorella

Gaborik, who would be an unrestricted free agent on July 1, said he hasn’t given his contract status much thought.

Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen has thought about it quite a bit. He wants to see more from Gaborik, he said, before committing to a long-term, high-dollar extension.

“I think he’s done a lot of good things,†Kekalainen said. “And I think he could do more.â€

Gaborik, 31, has eight goals, 10 assists and a plus-9 rating in the 22 games since he joined the Blue Jackets on April 3 in a trade with the New York Rangers. Only Brandon Dubinsky (4-15-19) has more points since Gaborik came aboard.

But what Kekalainen wants from Gaborik doesn’t show up in the stats.

“He could be the driving force of the team,†Kekalainen said. “I’d like to see him taking charge, driving the team with his example — not only with the points but with everything else he does.

“He’s at the point in his career where he could take the next step in that area. He’s proven he can score points, score goals. I want to believe that even a 30-year-old or a 35-year-old player can get better, and that’s one area that I want to see more from him.â€

They want a 31 year old with and injury history and 340 career goals to change his game?

Okay, good luck. If they don't sign him, there will be a team very willing and eager to.

I have never seen Gaborik as a leader on or off the ice doubt he ever will be, he's just a terrific goalscorer.

Free agency doesn't work.

Moulson is 30 today. Its his birthday. Any team signing him to a long-term deal will regret it.

That was always one of my criticisms of Gabby- great talent but he's not exactly a take charge type of player who is going to set the tone of the game. He's a pure sniper and he's usually unnoticeable when he's not scoring goals. At this point, Gabby is what he is and I highly doubt he will become the player that Jarmo wants him to be.

Agreed, good points. I think the same can be said for Nash

Free agency works with an intelligent approach. You've said as much yourself in the past.

I'd pass on moulson. We need physical scorers...

Totally agree, but both players bring entirely different games

Nash has better hands and is less of a pure sniper, but as far as players who aren't prone to taking over a game, I think they share that trait.

I had hope for Nash - figured it'd maybe take a bit of time to wear off the stench of playing with a perennial loser for a decade. But his concussion issues make it less likely he'll be the guy we all want him to be.

Pass on Gaborik. Where does he play? Nash, Callahan, Gaborik? Too much money on the right side. They need another LWer and they need a couple more players who make life miserable on the other team in terms of forechecking.

Boyle, for all his faults is hard to play against down low. Dorsett is another. Hagelin, Kreider, and Callahan are the same. Go get a Chris Neil or Tuomo Ruutu-like player who can make defenseman move the puck faster than they want to because they hear footsteps.

Move Nash to LW which is what should've happened last year but there was a coach here who thought it was brilliant to put Gabo on LW...

really hope we go after Steve Ott around the deadline. Last year of his deal, sat next to his wife at the game yesterday :naughty: and told her i hope he gets traded here and she said I hope so too I would love to live in the city :handclap:

Gaborik to NYR in July. 3 years 21m. :) With the cap going up, lets pull it off!

I am think the same thing but not at that level.

You cannot be a contender and pay a forward 7m per if the said player can't step up and lead the team when needed. People can complain on Nash, but at least he has lead this team during the regular season when we really needed that. Gabby just pops goals here and there.

I am sure Gabby will get a big contract, but if he was willing to take around 5m per it would hurt having him.

You mean on Nintendo? Nah I am kidding but you guys most solely be referring to his play in the POs last season, right?

He lead this team basically every game of the regular season that he played.

If you don't think he lead this team and took charge during the regular season, I am a tad confused.
