Byfield with Kopi-Star as the mentor(yeah baby) and Turcotte as 2nd-3rd line Centre...Lizotte 4th line...The centre position on the Kings, best in the League by far with By-Field,Kopi-Star,Turcotte...Lizotte!!!Now all the Kings need is some real bonafide young scoring wingers...Kempe,Kaliyev could be 2 for sure...need more though
Vilardi?

When the Kings brass said they expect to compete next year, they mean play meaningful games late into the season. If you listen to enough interviews etc, that's pretty much been their unified message. They do not expect to spend any real money this offseason either. No big splashes, likely just bridge players. So there is no rush to push whoever is drafted at #2 onto the big club. I think that only happens if it's in the best interest of the player to be in LA. If there's another outbreak or something and the NHL bubble is more beneficial than the OHL one (if there even is one) it's probably better for the player to be training with the big club than potentially just sitting at home. If it's Stutzle, he's stuck in Germany anyway.
Don't want Strudel don't even mention his name its going to be Byfield 110% sure of that!!!As far as a 2nd wave lets be positive and have players training, playing sooner rather that later

I think Byfield passes Vilardi immediately and LA should put out feelers to other clubs...Buffalo,Minnesota...Florida for their first rounder so LA can draft a potential top flight scoring winger...Holtz...Raymond,Jarvis,Perreault...

Seems the optimal path for Byfield might be to start him in the NHL (assuming the season starts in early to mid-December) let him play until he would go to the WJC (if they happen) and then spend the rest of the season with Sudbury. Gets him a taste of the NHL while not burning a year on his ELC.
Gary Roberts is trying to fast track Byfield and the youngster wants the NHL more than anything right now

I'd keep him down the entire year if it was up to me. He could REALLY use that extra seasoning for a year.

The Rangers are taking Laf at 1 if they keep the pick, it's not even a debate and the team has pretty much confirmed it as such. The only way we don't take Laf is if we traded the pick for a mega offer. Since the odds of that happening is slim to none, LA will deff have the chance to take Byfield.
LA Will have the chance and take Byfield in 999,999 outta 1 Million tries or as I say 110% of the time guaranteed

Byfield is pretty much ready and in 3-4 months time even moreso!!!If Quinton(The Monster)Byfield returned to Sudbury and the OHL it would be like playing against 14 year olds! He's ready now!

Yep. Byfield would instantly be our best prospect since Doughty, and it’s really not close.

Posts like this are the reason I made an account. I'm psyched you will get what you want. I genuinely hope you still have an account in a few years. If you are right I will obviously have hang up the youtube couch scouting clipboard and give up hockey forum posting life. Until that moment though, I will stick by my projection till the day I'm wrong. Stützle will be better than Byfield. From what I see, Stützle will be one of the best players in the leauge by year 4 maybe sooner. If my personal projection is right, well I'm happy the Kings chose the player the fans wanted.

For the record my personal top 6 Forwards are Laf, Stützle, Perfetti, Byfield, Rossi/Raymond. In that order. Even my top 6 falls victim to size as I really think Rossi and Raymond might have the stuff but Byfield has elite skill and is taller. I can't physically bring myself to put a kid with Byfields Hockey IQ over Perfetti. Maybe ultimately I'm valuing IQ too much. But in my experience IQ is what separates the great from good at the next level. Perfetti, Stützle, Rossi, Laf, and Raymond have the best IQ in the draft. Byfield has good IQ, but when you select him you are selecting the hope that he develops the IQ of Malkin(which does not happen. IQ like that does not just click and all the sudden your brain starts going rapid fire. Malkin's mind was ready for the NHL young, his body and skills were not).

"Teams will need to draft 6-7 D just to stop him"... the D way shorter than that in the CHL prospect game did just fine... so... no, no I highly doubt it. He also does not dictate the play enough for that to be the case. I see him as reactionary IQ not anticipatory IQ. Crosby's mind is 1-5 steps ahead at the top level, it was 1-10 steps ahead in major junior. The range is because it varied by game. He anticipates well beyond other top players. Byfield is 2 steps ahead in the O and 1 against top age range comp 0 against slight age gap. Most of his points come in transition = he's not controlling the game but he is taking advantage of opportunities. So I'm genuinely not sold on franchise center.

Personally I see Byfield being good, not the face of a franchise but he will certainly help a franchise.

All in all I changed my stance and want Ottawa to get Stützle because of comments like this. Take Byfield my guy, after just watch with rest of us. I will literally stop following hockey to this extent if I'm wrong. The kid you belittle as Strudel, well you're gonna have to watch. Absorb his success. Remember you were one the people saying the kings should pass on him. I'm not saying Byfield will be bad and I would never hope for a kid to fail just so I can be right. I will say I believe Stützle will be a player that gets his number retired by the end of his career, and gets a letter on his jersey before the age 25. I will also say I dont personally believe Byfield will. All my opinion, so please don't be rude. I will hope for Byfields success, and I hope my personal projection is just a reflection of my own inability to project skills and mindsets that translate to the NHL. A few years from now we will know though. I'm genuinely very interested to see how my projections pan out.

Stutzle scored 7 goals in 41 games in the DEL. His shooting percentage was around 8%, which is like an Adrian Kempe like success rate in terms of goal scoring. Those are eyebrow raising numbers.

Also, give this a listen.

And Kempe is an NHLer Strudel is not...what is he going to score in the NHL 4 goals his rookie year...let him play in the CHL and then see...don't compare the DEL to CHL or any other league...there are a lot of former NHL players playing well past their prime just to collect a paycheck...Just because he's German people think he's the next coming of Draisaitl...why's that? After reading and listening to a critique of Strudel's game I wonder whether he won't fall to 7-9 area maybe 10! If I was a scout or head scout I wouldn't want to stake my reputation on a Strudel...that kind of misfire gets you the unemployment line in a heartbeat! Kings will choose Byfield because he's the best of the rest by a wide margin after Lafreniere!!! No doubt about it! And Byfield is the kind of player that will push himself everyday and may some day pass Lafreniere...he has that kind of potential and drive!!!

Byfield helped carry a very average Sudbury Wolves team to a playoff spot. I'm sure that's a good sign he's not competitive whatsoever and him working out and training with Gary Roberts is a sign of weakness.

Some people are reaching very far to come up with these whacked out 'what if?' scenarios...

Remember when Doughty was being criticized for not taking his training seriously in his draft year? The Kings must've made a huge mistake selecting that carefree kid instead of Zach Bogosian, who is chiseled out of granite.
Quite. The podcast with his Sudbury coaches painted him very much as a leader on the team who works hard, anyone trying to suggest anything else is twisting things.

Goc not god (I hate auto correct ) didn’t seem convinced he was NHL ready and he knows him better than most.
