Carolina would actually be a great fit for Askarov. They’re pretty solid at forward and defense.
There are a few NHL teams looking for 'tenders,Carolina being one, with Minnesota,Chicago and Nashville taking a long, hard look at the Russian goalie. I have him going to Chicago or Minny, but Carolina is a good destination too!

Watching Dubois in the playoffs makes me hope we take Byfield. Shows how important and lethal a tall and good skating center can dominate.

I don't see the NYR wanting to trade down, but a potential franchise center is a big need there, BPA be damned. Not sure what I would offer if they approached the Kings with the idea.

I really don’t think a trade is best suited for either of us due to what the cost would be. We pretty much confirmed we’re taking Laf minus outright saying we are. You guys really can’t go wrong with Byfield (my personal choice) or Stutzle.

I dont think there is a trade there, LA wont want to give anything up and can just tell them to pick at one and pick byfield if thats who they want.

I’d be interested to see if LA is willing to trade down. Since the prospect pool is full, and with two highly rated centers.

LA is not trading down. Unless there is an absurd package on the table, LA will draft at 2.

From Ottawa's forum. McKenzie thinks LA likes Stutzle more in his opinion. Was mentioned above but here is the link to the audio clip:

hahaha my bad. I completely forgot about it watching the Bolts game.

Starts at: 11:22

McKenzie on the Leafs internal mood, if Dubas/Shanahan are on the same page & Covid's impact on Junior hockey

Bob: “ LA might be a team that in my mind that might have more interest in a guy like Stutzle than Byfield.”

Alright I need to go look at some more Stutzle highlights AGAIN if we're really leaning more towards the German. But who really knows. Byfield......Big, and can skate, with a better scoring touch and shot. Only 17 and don't even turn 18 till next week. Vilardi, Turcotte, and Byfield down the middle for years to come. Stutzle better be the real deal or else I'm really gonna do some home renovations with my fist. In all honesty though I think with all the upside of Byfield he may have the biggest bust potential. We chose the right one when we drafted Doughty lets hope we do it again. :skeptic:

31 Thoughts: How will Dubas handle Maple Leafs’ off-season? - Sportsnet.ca

14. Dumba’s momentous speech on opening day of the NHL’s Return to Play resonated with top draft prospect Quinton Byfield from OHL Sudbury.
“I watched it a few times,” Byfield said last week. “Really powerful. Inspiring. The confidence he had (to do it), I don’t know if I’d have that in me. But I know how much it means to a lot of people that he did it.”

Byfield also watched David Amber’s feature on the Dumba family, and was struck by the story of Dumba’s maternal grandparents, who adopted seven children of different nationalities. Byfield added that the kneeling done before the Dallas-Vegas game inspires a lot of young players of colour, “Letting them know that they can get involved and be welcome to play.”
Would he consider something similar?

“It crossed my mind, but right now I don’t really know what I’d do or say,” he answered. “I’m going to think about it some more.”

Byfield, who is biracial, said he’s had a couple of great experiences where, “a parent will say something about how their kid has seen me and is a big fan. That makes me feel good, that I’m doing something to help (diversify) the sport. I’ve been very lucky, growing up in Newmarket (Ont.) and playing in Sudbury, that I’ve never really had a problem.”

15. Byfield said he’d done Zoom calls with about 10 teams before the draft lottery, but was seeing a bit more focus with Los Angeles and Ottawa (picking second and third) afterwards. He’s watching a lot of hockey after spending his summer mornings training with Gary Roberts. What’s some of the hardest stuff?

“I was riding the bike for an hour the other day,” he laughed. “Intervals. Two on, one off, 20 seconds each. That was a tough one. I was saying, ‘Are you serious right now?’”

He likes the warmup, which includes spikeball. Who’s good at it?

“Chris Tierney, he’s the best one,” Byfield answered. “I finally beat him the other day.”
Who’s the worst? He paused, clearly thinking about who he wanted to jab — finally going with OHL Windsor’s Connor Corcoran, a 2018 Vegas pick.
“But,” Byfield added, “he’s come a long way.”
Good luck, Quinton.

Bob also called Colten tuebert comparable to shea weber.

Yeah, we'll see. I'm dubious that anyone 100% knows where the Kings are leaning 2 months prior to the draft. The Kings can't screw this up, so I'll trust the scouting is going to select someone who is going to develop into a premier talent. Who it is doesn't matter, it's what he turns out to be. This kid has to be a legit first line bus driver, not a passenger.

Neither of which are in Byfield's class, or with the same ceiling as Byfield.

Bob himself will always remind people that he's not a scout. On draft day, he's just relaying anecdotes that he's heard from other sources rather than things based on personal observations; It's amusing when a team goes off the board and there's some awkward silence from the broadcast crew since they're shuffling through notes rather than reciting things off of memory. The Hockey News had a misleading headline which compared Teubert to being a "Pronger type" based off a quote from his junior coach.
