High praise for Byfield.

“He’s got all the tools and he plays the game the right way,” said Dan Marr, head of the CSB, in an interview with Postmedia Thursday. “For me, he’s this generation’s Jean Beliveau and I’ve said that many times. He’s got the size, strength, speed, hockey smarts, skills, determination and compete. He’s got everything you need to be successful and be successful on a team scale.

“This kid, the two years we’ve watched him, he’s done it game in and game out. When he came back from the world juniors, he fought through and didn’t miss games, and by the time the prospect game came around he looked like he was ready to play in three seven-game playoff series. He battled through it, he kept his production up and he continued to lead. He checks every box for a team looking for an NHL star.”

Kopitar wasn't a complete player when we got him, and while he wasn't exactly where Byfield is skating wise, he was also known as being faster for his size than average. He can easily be taught to play the 200-foot game; although, I really like his offensive instincts.

If you were to include the playoffs, the number of games a CHL prospect could potentially appear in would be in the 70+ range, maybe more if their team reaches the Memorial Cup or said prospect participates in the World Juniors.

In the previous season 2018-19, Byfield appeared in 64 of Sudbury's 68 games, 8 playoff games, and 5 international games, so 77 games total for a 16 year old Byfield.

Jake Neighbours maybe?

I'd love to see the Kings draft him, but I have a feeling he'll be gone somewhere in the late 20s to late 30s range, and the Kings probably will target the best available defenseman with their 35th pick (or if they move up).

Hopefully Yannetti works his magic and gets the Kings another pair or trio of legit prospects after the Byfield pick ;)

Well, Yannetti did say that they have those picks there to get the players they really want, so maybe...
