we are going to miss him and his acrobatic style and even more his competiveness, never quits on a play and led by example on a few very strong leadership type teams ......love this guy

Haven't seen fire like that in a goalie in a long time, nor a guy as well-appreciated by his teammates. Will always admire him for literally never showing up a teammate...unlike watching Hank pout like a f***ing baby every time a d-man screens him.

Honestly as much as I rag on Price I appreciate that in him as well, he just keeps his head down and f***ing works, not easy in market like MTL.

I do think Quick is the perfect role model for those in our system.

If you want to do a HOF low-bar comparable I think Quick beats easily it would be Gerry Cheevers.

Also, it would be hard to convince me a guy like Ed Belfour has it all over Quick. The two are comparable in my mind.

It's too bad Quick was robbed of the Vezina in 2012 when he clearly deserved it. Hank got the East Coast bias and original six vote. I remember the rationalization that Quick would end up getting Hart votes instead from some of the media. And Hank stole that nomination as well. A Vezina, Hart nomination and a record-setting Conn Smythe performance in the same season would have been very compelling. Quick has a ridiculous save percentage in the Stanley Cup Finals as well as a 5-0 overtime record in the Finals. Who can match that?

I said it before and I'll say it again. It sucked, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ultimately, the well-run teams will continue to run well. The teams with poor management will realize they can't expect a No. 1 pick to save them.
Hey, hey, wait a minute. Are you saying the Pittsburgh Penguins were not well run?

They have been an extremely lucky franchise.

They have been an extremely lucky franchise.

Multiple things:
- they were not well run in the early 00s
- the lottery is substantially different since 2015/2016

They were very fortunate, yes, but they have also been very well run since they acquired Crosby.

Meh, we got totally screwed last year picking at 5OA and still had arguably the best draft in club history.

Wings got 4 picks in the top 60 and there’s plenty good talent to be found there.

Let's pump the brakes here, the Kings drafted two franchise Mount Rushmore players in 2005. Long way to go before we can compare anything to that.

I ain’t pumping no breaks! 2005 wins the Star-Struck award for now, but 2019 still gonna blow it away by how many quality NHL players it will produce.

And no, I don’t need to wait like the philosophers in these haunts and the “they haven’t proven anything yet” deep wisdom ...

The 2019 class will define the Kings for the next decade +.

Book it!

The only other draft class that can compete for that title will be televised this October.

I like the attitude! Enjoy the moment and reflect back in hindsight at a later date. I still remember this place in 2012 where you had a handful of Negative Nancys during the playoffs who were like don't get too excited. Kings haven't accomplished anything yet. Like our fan celebrations and happiness after each victory and series win was somehow going to impact how the team was playing on the ice. F that noise. Enjoy the freaking journey.

I find it interesting how all the Ottawa fans come over here to tell us that Stutzle > Byfield.....and yet they also want us to take Stutzle at #2. I'm sure they are just looking out for our best interest. Right...
Time to tell them that they suck at both the jedi mind trick and trying to Bugs Bunny us

Ya Nailed It!

Haven’t been this excited since we flew Nolan and King down from Manchester...

There have been many, many draft classes over the last 40 years that had Kings fans planning the parade. It's not deep wisdom. It's just common sense.

I think we should all be excited about the Kings future PRIMARILY due to the inclusion of the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 draft. Drafting Byfield adds a whole new dimension to the Kings future, and he would instantly become our best prospect.

Turcotte, Vilardi, Kaliyev, Bjornfot, etc. are all nice prospects, some of which with a real shot at becoming impact players. But look no further than Kupari for a lesson on pumping the brakes. He went from bonafide top line winger to top six forward to fringe depth player. Sometimes prospects just don't develop the way you expect them to. Even Turcotte took a step back in expectations this past year after we spent an entire summer calling him the next Mike Richards.

Kupari is kind of a sub-optimal example considering he tore his ACL before his first NA pro season even came to an end when he was just starting to be receptive to Stothers' coaching. But he was a good example of being a great skater on European ice and having to learn to adapt to smaller rinks. If he had finished the season at around 15 goals as a rookie in the AHL, that would've been pretty good. Most of the doubts about him now is because of the ACL concerns. Sans the injury, he still projects to top 6 IMO.

Really? I've seen him play Liiga, WJC U18, WJC U20 and the in AHL and I have not seen any signs, that he will be top6 player in the NHL. If everything goes really well he's next Joonas Donskoi, nothing more.

Have you seen the Kings top 6? Donskoi's numbers would firmly place him in the top 6 in LA . Fair enough, I'll defer to you as the resident Fin. That being said, the Kings development staff definitely views him as a top 6 type of talent. I'm excited to see what Wroblewski does with all the youth on the team. If he turns into Adrian Kempe type production that still makes him a a valuable 3rd liner at the very least.
