Great interview on TSN1200 with Byfield.

Few notes:
He trains about 5 times a week, including on ice training 3-4 times a week. Talked about his nutrition and strength training with Gary Roberts. Byfield was training with McDavid before the playoffs restarted.

He has had 2 interviews with Ottawa and LA each.

Has lead several initiatives in Sudbury to help underprivileged kids in the community. Kids got heart.

Also, tell me Byfield doesn't sound kinda like Kopitar when he speaks. Something about those big centers I guess

Byfield: I think I can make the step to the NHL next year

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Well now we've done it. Countdown until Canadians start showing up on our forum to point out that their lord and savior Bob McKenzie has a hunch that the Kings want to select Stutzle. Spoiler alert, we don't care here. Evangelize on your own forum.

Would nylander Dermott and 15th for the 2nd overall work?
Any LTIR contacts you need to get rid of?

Interesting offer in that I like Nylander a lot. He's got a great motor and plays a good two-way game. BUT, I don't see the Kings trading away the #2 when they beat all the odds and fell ass backwards into some luck. I believe that the player that they are going to select (Byfield) will be special for many years. It's going to take a crazy trade to move Blake and that just isn't it.

The Kings aren't trading the #2OA unless it's for the #1OA. What the kings need is high end talent. Byfield would be the perfect Kopitar replacement to be mentored by Kopitar.

The Kings also are potentially running into the 50 contract limit. That's another reason the Kings aren't looking at a quantity for quality trade. Nylander also would not be the difference between the rebuild and contention.

I'm not a big Nylander fan. But that deal is very fair.

If I were you guys I'd just hope Jarvis slips to you and make the pick.

At number two overall you are expecting to draft a franchise cornerstone type player. Nylander is a nice player but he is not a franchise cornerstone. He's the type of player that you trade for when you're already a playoff team but are missing a good complementary winger. The time to trade for Nylander was when he was holding out.

The Kings will be taking Byfield. If Toronto really wanted that pick, it would take Marner. But Marner to LA doesn’t make a ton of sense for either team.

A HOF player, an over a PPG player, Jim Fox was a pretty good player before injuries did him in, and some solid role players. I'll take it.

A shame that a couple years after this draft, they go back to trading first rounders for has-beens, and do the same in trading Larry Murphy for older players who had brief stints in LA.
